Product Information Material Options
Basswood Venetian
Plantation timber specifically grown & developed for furniture & window coverings
Extremely durable & stable hardwood timber for Venetian blinds. Less likely to warping & denting
Dense grain provides an excellent smooth surface for staining or painting.
Not recommended for wet areas such as bathrooms & laundries - Timber product & may absorb moisture if present
Country Oak Venetian
Plantation timber - grows quickly & is harvested in 1/10th time (8years V’s 90+ years) for basswood
Premium timber resistant to chipping & splitting
Phoenixwood
Plantation timber which regrow's several times from the one stump ,after harvesting of the timber
Light weight hardwood timber, dimensionally stable & strong.
Natural grain of the timber is enhanced by staining & painting
76mm Premium slat allows for superior light & privacy control
Timber-Look (Illusions)
P.V.C based extruded material. Strong, durable, UV stabilised
Heavier than timber product . Not recommended for wide blinds as it will bow when raised.
Suitable for wet areas due to its non absorbent characteristics. E.g. bathrooms & laundries
Aluminium
Light, durable & stable cost efficient window treatment. Also suitable for wet areas

Important Information Venetian Blinds
Light Bleed
All blinds allow light to pass around the sides of the blind.
In addition there will be small pin holes of light in each slat where the
ladder cords pass through
Consider using face fit as an option rather than reveal fit to reduce light
bleed at the sides.
Bowing of Raised Venetian Blinds
Venetian blinds are designed to control the amount of light or privacy by
adjusting the angle of the slats.
Wide blinds, particularly “Illusions “ composite blinds larger than 4m2 in
area, are heavy & when raised the “stack” & bottom bar will bow.
If the customer requires a blind that can be regularly raised for more light
or for a view then a roller blind may be a better solution. .
Raised wide
blinds will bow
Structured Product Education & Evaluation Development - eLearning
jpm-speed.com
Hot Sun on Dark Colour Illusion Blinds
Darker colour Timber-Look Illusions or other composite
Venetian blinds should not be used on windows facing full sun.
The darker colour will absorb more heat & on very hot days
wider & heavier blinds risk distortion of the blind slats.
Light Bleed Under Bottom Bar
Our standard drop measurement is achieved when the blind is
in the closed position & the bottom rail is tilted.
When the blind is in the open position, the lowest point of the
bottom rail will sit approximately 10mm to 15mm higher than
when the blind is in the closed position.

Colour Variation
Due to the use of natural materials, colour variation sometimes occurs
with Timber Venetians and 76mm Traditional Blind and is unavoidable.
Colour difference will be very subtle & is considered normal
Larger Sizes
Larger sizes than recommended will not be covered by warranty.
Recommend multiple single or 2 in 1 headrail
The customer should be advised that larger blinds will be heavier and
raising & lowering will require a second person to manually assist
Larger Size
(Consider Weight)
Important Information Venetian Blinds

jpm-speed.com
Important Information
Venetian Blinds
Slat Closure & Light Control
Venetian blind slats overlap each other at the top & bottom & may
be tilted to adjust the amount of light or privacy.
However Venetian blinds are not designed & should not be sold as
a total light block out blind.
Venetian blind ladder cords are made from strong synthetic cord
material and these cords will elongate & distort due to the weight
of the blind slats & bottom bar.
This elongation and ladder cord distortion increases more
towards the bottom of the blind, due to increasing weight, and as
a result it is not possible to fully close the blind slats to achieve
total light block out.
Lighter weight slats, such as those made from aluminium, are
more prone to show filtered light between the slats, again this is
worse towards the bottom of the blind and is considered normal.

Blind Stack when Raised
Venetian blinds stack when raised. They are not recommended above
standard doorways.
Wide “Timber-Look” blinds will bow when stacked
As a guide the approximate stack up when a blind is raised will be as shown
below.
Care & Cleaning
Dust can be easily brushed off at regular intervals using a soft cloth, feather
duster or a vacuum cleaner with brush attachment.
To dust , tilt the slats up & then down (but not entirely closed) to reach the
top & bottom surfaces.

sides of blind and/or across base of blind. The
blind can only be made square
Measure width at 3 points
It is industry standard for blinds fitting into the window reveal to sit flush with the front of the reveal.
The factory will make the standard deductions for the product type
