Flowers spreading petals In the morning before my eyes open I am living in a memory Of the dreams I have just left Times with lovers and friends laughing surrounded by nature naked and comfortable in the sunlight We are forever waiting to unfold Like flowers spreading petals Mystery giving a lecture Inside our whispering heart She laughs with the stream gurgling in the background I see orbs floating nearby as I stare into the clouds This living is the champagne of being Breathe in and witness life You are making in your stillness

Wish for the stars to light a way for you between the fat heavy rain Let yourself fall asleep to the song of your wax-paper umbrella sweet rhythm infantile The dangerous rocking of the train in our dreams Blasting a new tunnel We witness glittering glory Are glimpsed with fire burning deep inside the ground Ask for this mother of pearl to shine like your hearts song Let Gia hear you lull her with your lullaby of your deepest secret dreams As you croon the story of what we will become

Page 7: Mad With Devotion

Remember who you are You are here where the past collides with the future Born of countless generations Who toiled at life and passed into dust Parent to untold species who will follow you in the swirling masses of stars Don’t get lost in yourself in your lovers or drugs in food or television in politics or religion Remember who you are where you are going Be on your path in the light in the darkness You are a sweet universe wearing a kind of atmospheric S.C.U.B.A .suit

Page 8: Mad With Devotion

You were made to travel time like a U.F.O. bending the space around you. Your path is of the future you will become. Everything you’ve ever known is traveling at millions of miles per second. Planet spinning star orbiting star orbiting star orbiting star. Which way is up? How is it you feel like you know where you are going?

Unmistakable Peace Witness the dawn in all it’s brilliant glow A neapolitan sky shinning like a baby’s face Now is the new dream of today’s play of acts We are reborn out of the frozen night and miracle of the eternal flame To span great mountain ranges with our elizibethan shoes Music drifts from our camp to lull the bees into a soft crescendo The humming sound of unmistakable peace

Page 10: Mad With Devotion

Arise to the embers of yesterdays fire Let the silence of the first rays of this newborn sun softly caress your face as it floats into the sky Breathe in the endless stillness of the ancient lava flow that once covered the earth here Softly chew on your flavored curd and berries and scribble on your velum All this world is endlessly old and is reborn each day

Page 11: Mad With Devotion

Devin Christopher Haas - 2015 7

What could you need? We have nothing to tell you with the dreams you have been given everything should be clear Just relax let the world be what it is enjoy the consonance and dissonance Be what you are forget the dream that you need something else Forget the hunger of your hungry ghost You are fed, loved, wealthy and know the sweet blossoms of winter flowers made to dream of tomorrow gifted all the world to caress What could you need that is not here already playing blissfully in the palm of your hand

Page 12: Mad With Devotion

The starlit skyway Lay down your load come close the fire we’ve a hollow log to rest your bones awhile There’s a guitar right here to play your heartstrings a way to escape the pain as a shelter for your soul Listen to the sound of your heartbeat deep within your chest working everyday Love has taken me into starlight now I must learn to breathe it deep inside Step to the road that never ends may the steps you tread ever fall true You were made to know never to question The fact that we bathe in eternal light You are the way you are the path only once will your steps be walked Have no fear, nor regrets the world was made for you to live today

Kiss me again Kiss me again I don’t want to forget the perfect way your lips curl into mine This gossamer web of your tiny Hands on my back As we sway on the boardwalk high above the waves Your flashing smiles and blinking lashes my hypnotic touch on velvet and lace The sea is spraying us as we gaze out from dappled sunlight and carnival smells and sounds Drift through the air smile and then Kiss me again make her heart quicken as she folds at the wrist This wind is neverending as we hang in the sky royal family of clouds drifting through opulent Luxor

Page 14: Mad With Devotion

Sweet Teeth Give me your cotton candy if in fine puffy clouds of pink or soft cobweb traces that billow around the lacey tops Of your gossamer stockings sweet fog in my brains and mouth that envelops me in floating islands of mana Share the glow of your light-body as my face is washed in fluffy strands of bliss made to coalesce into someplace real Give me sweetness to fill the secret spaces within my soul With micro printed chocolate popsicles cartooning with red red tongues to lick themselves off of your underoo’s…

Mad With Devotion Make no mistake I have gone mad with devotion What more evidence could there be? I don’t sleep I don’t eat I just sing fall all over the floor laughing at the songs we write I just play the pipe organ and listen to the ringing stone In the late hours of the night and giggle at the sounds of my breathing Oh what perfection the tilting chaos squishy kisses love falling in love

Rainbows Glittering sea shells in the setting sun Budded urchin chips & phosphorescent snail shells Microscopic landscapes of wet sand Traced with thousands of lashings from rolling sea grass Rainbows reflecting from the silvery mirror of the sand Rainbows in the softly clouded sky Rainbows in the rocky sandstone protrusions Rainbows on my face

Find your star and wish there is a portal in the rock face make the right sound and it will reveal itself This place has a sound as well and as we change the sound of this place, it becomes other places Go when the solstice lines up with the stones when you feel the thin veil get thinner Disappear to another time and place a frozen wasteland in the ancient past

Page 18: Mad With Devotion

Steam in the kitchen It’s raining out and there is a blimp passing by You are beginning to cook a puree I am in a fog of sneezing and dazed from the Rick Simpson oil Your pho leopard skin robe matches a pillow nearby as you chop vegetables and we talk of life What a strange monkey show happens here on the planet The dehydrator crackles in the background I pass gas as the i-phone jukebox battery dies We wait listening to the rush outside

Page 19: Mad With Devotion

Vai for the stars We stay up all night because we are laughing and life is candy We stay up all night while we tell each other secrets and eat raw chocolate We stay up all night making love and sighing fighting afterward then crying We stay up all night because we want to see the sun rise in the sky We stay up all night because we want to learn to fly While we are dreaming while we are dancing we vai for the stars To come visit us on the ground where we shine

Page 20: Mad With Devotion

Forgive me for being a dreamer love me for having imagination I am asleep in this life making a good story to tell I can’t see things how they are but only how they might be I don’t remember who or how We are what we are it’s just a story I’m telling to us all About how it might be if we let our dreams come true if we forget the old story All the pain that our soul was forged in And become dreaming characters costumed in a lovely land from a far away place Forgive me for making us royal and forgetting that our feet touch the ground

Page 21: Mad With Devotion

Spin Spin Like water in a vortex We silently spin downward The purple glow of a blacklight Shinning in the darkness Listen to the band play We’ve all let go of trying To be what we are not Just a bunch of palm trees Silently swaying in the wind Your tiny hand is in mine I am singing along What more could we ask for? Being alive inside a body Listening to the music Witnessing magic Spin spin Like a record Or a carousel Tilt and whirl up and down

Page 22: Mad With Devotion

Whisper to the part of me that already knows the secrets you will tell Tell me in the last moments of the night how eternity can be Where I’ll be when I listen how I’ll feel what it’ll be like inside my heart

Page 23: Mad With Devotion

Sometimes when it’s late and the highway dies down I sit on the porch watching moonbows form in the clouds and listening to the waves rolling onto the beach There is a quiet stillness in the world outside the gallaries Then the undying love of nature and her song… I just sit and dream of stories she tells me when I am ready to listen

Page 24: Mad With Devotion

Make the mystery train go the places you’ve always wanted Ask for the seemingly impossible To be given for nothing This is your chance become the transcendence you wish to acquire Own the chance to kiss exuberant melancholy We are all android pilots these are our masked balls

Page 25: Mad With Devotion

A Golden Era Grand debut mystery will entrance us forward As we plan generations of mystical experience As we come out of bad dreams out of our pain body Only novelty will move us now Only a true desire for a perfect freedom

Page 26: Mad With Devotion

If I were an apple I’d know how to be Just hanging in the air high above in a tree Heavy but swaying with the rustling leaves Enjoying the sunlight that falls unto me ~ Then when I ‘m fat and filled to the brim I’ll fall onto the ground or go on a swim Bury myself in earth and nuzzle with my seeds For I know, yes I know how to become a tree

Page 27: Mad With Devotion

Just to stay It made me laugh the way we danced it took my breath away I had to take another chance to see you dressed this way For in all the world no one can do Things that make me feel like you I’m lucky to be here with someone I so endear I came to be your confidant I wanted just to stay near to you to touch your heart but it never was that way For all the girls I ever knew It was hardest to get close to you I’m lucky to be here with someone I so endear

Page 28: Mad With Devotion

Inner stillness I vow to sit I vow to sit on my many petaled flower To breathe deeply the fragrant air To become unified with one and all Share what I am feeling remember what I was given Love the sky and the ground Not trample the lace flowers Nor eat the animals Ill drink the water Just stay around here and bring soul to this place

Page 29: Mad With Devotion

Zikir The goddesses spin across the floor with arms full of flowers. Jugs of wine are cracking their corks As the fireplace crackles as the drums resonate and the floor tile is cracking Let the light in pour a molten chocolate mold of your face So I can eat you later Like raw maca balls that have disappeared In stripey pants to a farther room

When the palo santo runs out I’m heading back to South America Too long have I walked on the flat wide Earth on the plane of Iberica Now the heat of Summer is in my dreams Flying by some canvas and balsa wood For a diversion I am in my heart wandering the white buildings in Arequipa As the playa fills with people we lay on the beach and listen to the waves through the sand Something is sacred about the evidence and the places that remind us this is not the first time around the block

Page 31: Mad With Devotion

On the landing of the stairs Lucy in the sky with diamonds is rolling off of the record player The chess board has all these extra spaces I am waiting for the color light gels to stop crinkling and threatening to melt My barts are all out numbered and the cats are rubbing my sandal footed bare legs What if my whole life is just a dream? What if I stop being me and wake to find I am entirely something else?

Page 32: Mad With Devotion

Pull softly on the edges of my collar With your rounded nails and blushing cheeks Blurry in motion in front of me lace your fingers in my curls Let me sway here next to your pearlescent overflowing evening gown Watch the curve of your lips on the champagne glass The tuxedoed sax band is on our favorite number Our table of flowers fills the room with a smile This time together will hold me up As I walk under the canopies of darkness

Page 33: Mad With Devotion

Whatever will I do with all this love? This endless love that is poured over me like honey and milk over the giant room filling lingam brought about by celibate monks Or warm lapping waves in Indian summer lakeside naptime

Will it carry me will I let it? Oh I know it will If I get it

Where will we go in our love U.F.O.? a purple dimension where velvet plants glow Where lazy vines wrap tiny orchids to kiss my peel I will sleep swaying in the dappled leaf shadow and sew my delicate white wicker hat glinting out from under the orange and maroon bougainvilleas. Then an endless ocean of grass that touches white beaches below will stretch from my fingertips poking at the ground. And the light is seeming to seep through the cracks in everything As your soft purring flesh is resting relaxed nearby What can I do with all this love?

Pouring out of me like peanut butter and waffles on the day of Saturday morning cartoons Like volcanic rock all molten and glowing sizzling crackling in the ocean making me quiver because it’s so good

Will it carry me will I let it? Oh I know it will If I get it

We laugh hysterical as the bring us plates of medjool dates We waltz comfortable in Moroccan tea houses filled with carved ceilings and pillows I am kissed on the arms hands and face by deep eyed succulent contortionists Taken into back rooms To hear the private jam sessions Of jazz masters playing at family barbeque gatherings like weddings and graduations What will I do with all this love? All the love that reigns down on me that is like honey and butter with orange juice under the passion flowers Breakfast and wine on the veranda with the girls from the pool

Awaken to find the sunrise in the west Your mercurial electronic love magic recharged mountains changed forests moving You are ready to give in to the natural shifting sands of time Continents popping in and out of the ocean like great yellow brown gopher heads We are the wandering lost who are found again in our dreams How all the world can stand on it’s head becomes clear While we await our chance to ride the lightening

<3 <3 <3 Pull open these dusty velvet drapes and look down at the ocean. Feel the glint of light bouncing into your eye from off the marble Let the buzz hit you as it ripples up your spine Pupil to pupil the fireworks flash As we begin the steps of our ancient dance I go cat, you go mouse We run up and down the house

Page 36: Mad With Devotion

This weather is like a blanket you don’t go out in it but just put it on Nuzzle your soft nose into it Like the fluffy bussom of the girl with the perfect teeth who works in the shops downstairs It’s all cozy with a glass of brandy by the fire Moist but not raining Bright but no sun The air moves but there’s no wind Maybe the sun is setting as I go to sweep the stairs maybe I will sleep on the sand so soft inside my shell

Page 37: Mad With Devotion

Devin Christopher Haas - 2015 33

You are too quiet speak up and be heard let your love speak Out loud Be bold with your message there is nothing better you can say than I love you That is how I feel this is what I want Say it louder! Stop mumbling

Page 38: Mad With Devotion

As though you were a child breathe in and be at peace Listen to the birds in the trees and the wind chime Peach colored bells hang from the sky on a big fluffy bed Pull your knees into your face palms on the back of your head breathe in and be at peace Sip the neutral nectar of green as indigo orchids sway In the cozy grey of morning in the majestic shores of California

Page 39: Mad With Devotion

Greet the children in the street They are listening to the sound we make Don’t be flat and grey be awake Say what they didn’t expect Tomorrow is in the eyes that are still not afraid to dream If you have fallen into being old don’t let on Just keep wiggling and stay slightly out of step So they can laugh as you pass by

Page 40: Mad With Devotion

My head hurts when I stay up this late but I am waiting for the sun My arms tire when I ceaselessly play the drum but I am taking someone home My body wants to lie down but still I dance The fire will not feed itself This ganga will not smoke itself The fire water will not drink Itself Come sit with me eat the sacred mushrooms and breathe deep the palo santo Let’s go talk to god

When it’s grey She looks at the pond and sees Herself in the willow trees

Oh dear moon shine in the blue sky Oh make the world glow as the sun sets into the sea I have seen you before In your forever same stare glinting through the trees Watching over me The stories you know must be many The secrets you keep remain untold The world would not be the same If your gentle pulling did not set the living oceans as though to music

Page 43: Mad With Devotion

Magnolia trees and golden clouds In a world of blues and yellows Children are laughing loud waves rumble on the beach below And the trolley goes by as sunlight filters through the palm trees The constant wind pressure on your face and in your hair As the day is beginning to end But we are only beginning

Abyss of the miracle whipped sky Stretching sideways against the ceaseless movement of the ocean An ocean that reminds me of glass In the same colors from the Mott’s miniatures dioramas of this old west we’ve had a longer romance with than it was here Crumpled up trees and grasses with small purple flowers mosses and tiny railroad crossings with wheat grain bulbs that are too small to unscrew

You are a two-way radio broadcast frequency of your soul made to enjoy what you like or to listen late at night Sine wave of an analogue bit vacuum tubes not required in this kit Built to match intergalactic specs. all life resonate with the rest Tune in the beat makes you feel more complete out in the street shaking something sweet Tune in the beat makes you feel more complete out in the street shaking something sweet

I’m sorry my love is so expensive If it were free would you still want it? If I never moved to the other side of the Earth to chase after your love, would you find me worthy anyway? It’s so easy to share my heart if I am ready to let go it has a life I can’t find reason to hinder Chasing after music and sunset, grins attached to sunglasses, warm lawns and ripe mangoes chasing the wind and stars Looking inside of caves and the warm feather beds of the shinning citadel & the soft white smile of the empress
