Dear teacher,
We are delighted to invite you to the Macmillan Academy Day in Barcelona that will take place at the Universidad de Barcelona on Saturday, 11th May.
At this event, you will have the opportunity to attend an inspiring and very practical talk that will be given by Kieran Donaghy, a very experienced speaker, teacher trainer and
one of the authors of the new Macmillan English Hub course

relevant and motivating ideas for using video with adult learners in the classroom that you will be able to put to
immediate use in your classes.
Moreover, you will have the chance to meet and talk to Kieran
at the book stand during the break before his talk. During the
break, you will also have the opportunity to browse through
the range of new Macmillan courses that are available for

AdultsKieran Donaghy. Social shorts: using short films and videos to raise awareness of social issues.
In this practical session, we will examine how short authentic videos can be used to raise awareness of social issues and values in the language classroom. We’ll explore a number of practical, generic activities which foster both oral and written communication as well as vocabulary acquisition. Teachers will go away from the session with a better understanding of how to use short videos to promote social justice and a number of tried and tested activities to use with short videos.
