Display Font UsageGenerally, display fonts/headings/article titles are at 82pt Franchise Regular with an underline option (weight 74pt, offset -28pt, colour black) although these can range up to 200pt depending on the heading length. They may be used on one page or across a spread. If used on one page, it can be used with or without minimal body copy. The underline options will need to be adjusted if the size is greater than 82pt.
Column Widths and GridsThere are 4 main column widths that you can choose from, depending on the length of the article and what else is on the page. This is the widest paragraph you may have, at 130mm. The following examples on the next page are set at 58mm, 63mm, and 90mm.
In terms of a grid system, you will follow a 9x9 modular grid in conjuction with the Van de Graaf canon, which you can see on this spread. Try to keep the body copy within these pink boxes. There is a baseline grid with the following preferences: starts at 10mm, relative to the top of the page, increment every 12pt. There are no set margins as these will be determined by the width of the column you choose.

Page Numbers, Page Dividers and ImagesPage numbers are on the right page of each spread, centred and read vertically. Page dividers are on the left page of each spread, and let readers know which section of the magazine they are at, either Lifestyle, People, Culture, or Places. Both of these are set at 7pt Avenir Next Condensed Medium Italic at 5.5mm away from the edge of the page. Images are quite flexible in their size and positioning. Refer to previous issues of Chasm to see what has been done before.
