    Exercise 7 Changing your mind!

    It can be very annoying to start working in a slide only to decide that you want

    to change the slide layout.

    It can be just as frustrating to produce a presentation and then decide to

    change the background template or can it?!

    On the Standard toolbar, click the [New] button

    A new presentation will open on screen

    The [Slide Layout] Task Pane will open

    From the [Slide layout] Task Pane, scroll down to the [Text Layouts]section

    Select [Title and Text] layout

    On the Formatting toolbar, click the [Design] button

    In the [Slide Design] Task Pane, choose a design layout

    Click the down arrow to the right of the colour field

    To see a colour palette and a list of options

    Select [More Colors]

    The Colors dialog box opens

    Select a colour from either the [Standard] or the [Custom] tab and click

    [OK]

    To confirm your colour selection

    Select [Apply]

    To apply the new coloured background to the selected slide only

    Click the [Design] button on the Formatting toolbar

    To view the [Slide Design] Task Pane

    Select [Color Schemes]

    Choose from the colour scheme options available

    Select [Edit Color Schemes] to amend the currently selected colour

    Overview

    In the following exercises we will:

    Use the [Table Layout] to create enough 3 x 3 grids for each pupil

    Insert a range of numbers depending on the mental maths ability of the

    group.

    Print as handouts, 3 slides per page

    Suggested use: Instead of calling out the numbers, call out calculations e.g. Whos got 25 divided by 5? or even numro cinq!

    Create a new presentation

    Exercise 12 Align text in a cell

    The numbers currently sit in the top left corner of the cell. This exercise will

    change their alignment.

    Click in the top left cell

    Hold down the mouse button and drag to the bottom right cell

    To select all of the table

    To highlight all of the table

    Either Make your selection from the alignment buttons

    on the [Formatting] toolbar

    Or

    Select the [Format] menu and [Alignment]

    Make your selection from the sub menu

    To align the text to the left, centre or right of the cell

    Exercise 13 Duplicate a slide

    Having created one slide, we need to duplicate it to create enough for one per

    pupil.

    We then need to replace the numbers so that each card is unique.

    In Slide Sorter View, click on your table slide

    From the menu bar, select [Edit] [Duplicate]

    To replicate the first slide

    Repeat this as many times as you need

    Click onto slide 2

    To select that slide

    Select the [Normal View] icon at the bottom of the

    screen

    To view only that slide, ready to edit it Change the numbers in the slide

    To create a unique bingo card

    Repeat the process for each slide

    To create a set of unique bingo cards

    Select all of the table

    Press the [Delete] key on the keyboard

    To erase all the text in the table

    Type new numbers into the cells

    Repeat for each card

    Tips:

    Press the [Backspace] key on the keyboard once for each character you

    wish to delete

    To delete character(s) to the left of the cursor

    Press the [Delete] key on the keyboard once for each character you wish

    to delete To delete character(s) to the right of the cursor

    Highlight the text or table you wish to delete

    Press the [Delete] key on the keyboard

    To delete the highlighted text

    To delete larger amounts of text/tables/etc

    Exercise 15 Using the Undo/Redo Commands

    It is possible to undo multiple actions you have carried out within

    PowerPoint.

    If, after undoing an action, you wish to retain it, it is possible to redo actions.

    Before undoing actions, it is possible to specify what the maximum number of

    undos available should be:

    From the menu bar, select [Tools] [Options]

    Select the [Edit] tab In the Undo section, define how many actions you want to be able to

    reverse

    Use the following techniques to search for help on using dates in PowerPoint:

    The Office Assistant

    Microsoft Help anticipates the kind of guidance you need and suggests Help

    topics based on the work you're doing. The Help is characterised by an Office

    Assistant, an animated figure that might prompt you at any time unless

    hidden.

    The Office Assistant Help in PowerPoint is a central place for you to get tips

    on how to use PowerPoint features more efficiently and find visual examples

    and step-by-step instructions for specific tasks.

    You can also phrase a Help request in your own words to search for the

    answer you need.

    Either Click the [Help] button on the [Standard] toolbar

    Or

    From the menu bar, select [Help] [Microsoft PowerPoint Help]

    Or

    Press [F1] on the keyboard

    Use a digital camera and scanned images to log the progress of anexperiment or project:

    For example, capture the development of a plant grown from seed.

    Use a PowerPoint presentation to describe how to carry out a project

    Use [Slide Show] [Set Up Show] [Loop continuously until esc] feature

    To run your show on a monitor during parents evening.
