Cat Two-Piece Front Linkage.Two different front linkage configurations,14.3 m (47 ft) and 15.65 m (51 ft 4 in),are available to provide the correctmatch between reach and lift capacityfor all material handling applications.

Material Handling Front Components.Material Handling booms and sticksare built for excellent performanceand durability.

Finite element analysis is used in thedetermination of structural stresses andenables optimization of durability andperformance.

Castings and forgings are used at highstress areas such as the boom nose,boom foot, boom cylinder and stick foot.

Internal baffle plates provide for addedstrength and durability throughout thestructure to withstand torsional loads.

Welded Box-Section Structures.The boom and stick are designedand built for maximum durabilityand performance. Efficient designof welded box-section structures withthick, multi-plate fabrications in highstress areas increases durability inabove ground loading.

Side Plates. Extended side plates on thestick provide excellent protection forthe hydraulic lines. The lines are routedalong the top of the stick between theextended side plates, providing protectionfrom damage.

3126B ATAAC Engine. The six-cylinder,turbocharged engine is EPA Tier 2 andEU Stage II compliant. It delivers, at therated speed of 1800 rpm, a net power of140 kW (188 hp) for the M325C LMHor 128 kW (173 hp) for the M325C MH.It is built for power, reliability, andfuel economy.

Automatic Engine Control. AutomaticEngine Control reduces engine RPMswhile the machine is not operating tomaximize fuel efficiency.

Caterpillar Hydraulic Generator.An optional 20 kW hydraulically drivengenerator can power magnets of 1.22 m(48 in), 1.45 m (57 in), or 1.68 m (66 in)in diameter. A Baldor generator andelectronic magnet controller manufacturedby Cat are linked to provide troublefree service and virtually eliminatetraditional maintenance.

Hydraulic Cylinder Snubbers.The hydraulic cylinder snubbers atthe rod end of boom cylinders and bothends of stick cylinders reduce soundand increase cylinder life to keep themachine working longer.

Lift Arms. The lift arms on the hydrauliccab riser are box-section designed forgood cab stability. The linkage is aparallelogram design, which keepsthe cab level in all positions.

Hydraulic Cylinders. Two heavy-dutyhydraulic cylinders provide quick andcontrolled up and down movement.At the topmost position, the cylindersare retracted to ensure excellent stability.In event of hydraulic malfunction, thecab can be lowered using either a leverinside the cab or one on the frame atground level.

Bottom Position. This position is usedto allow for easy shipping and greaterstability during travel.

Interior Operator Station. The operatorwork station has low sound levels, andthe controls have been convenientlyplaced for ergonomics, easy adjustmentand ease of operation. Fully automaticclimate control adjusts temperature andair flow.

Cab Mounts. The cab is attached to theframe with resilient mounts to reducesound and vibration.

Viewing Area. Wide windows allowfor excellent viewing in all directions.A large polycarbonate skylight providesexcellent visibility upwards. The two-piece window can be opened separatelyfor better ventilation or the lower portioncan slide into the upper window tocompletely open the front bay.

Seat. The new seat for wheel materialhandlers offers adjustable back rest,lumbar support, cushion length andcushion angle. Independently adjustablearmrests and pilot controls allowtailored ergonomics to suit operatorpreference. The seat provides airsuspension, seat heating, horizontalsuspension and automatic adjustment.

Automatic Climate Control.Fully automatic climate controladjusts temperature and air flow.

Purpose-Designed Upper Frame andCounterweight. The purpose-designedand built upper frame is reinforcedwith additional plates of high strengthmaterial to handle greater loadingassociated with material handlingfor excellent durability.

Strong Stable Undercarriage.The M325C MH/LMH wheelundercarriages provide maximumrigidity and long service life. This 4 dual/single wheel undercarriage provides thestability needed for Material Handlingapplications, and is well suited for usewith a hydraulic cab riser. The hydrauliclines are routed through the frame, andthe cylinders have heavy-duty guardsto provide protection from damage.

M325C MH Tires. The smaller machineincludes 4 dual 12.00-20 solidrubber tires.

M325C LMH Tires. The larger machineis equipped with 4 solid rubber tires(16.00-25). Optional pneumatic tiresare also available.

Heavy Duty Axles. The front axles onthe M325C MH and the rear axles onthe M325C LMH offer great oscillatingand steering angles. The transmissionis mounted directly on the rear axle forprotection and optimum ground clearance.

Orange Peel Grapples. The Caterpillarorange peel grapples are constructedwith four wear-resistant steel tinesand fully replaceable tips for excellentservice life.

Hydraulic cylinders are enclosed withineach tine for maximum protection.

Mechanical stops prevent the cylindersfrom bottoming-out and hydrauliccushioning provides additional protection.

Walker Magnets. The Walker 1.22 m(48 in), 1.45 m (57 in), or 1.68 m (66 in)Lift Master magnets can be used withthe M325C MH/LMH. These magnetshave been designed and engineered forscrap processing applications. Ask yourdealer salesperson for information onthe Walker Magnet.

Work Tool Sizing. Grapples and worktools must be matched to the machinesize, linkage configuration, andapplication with respect to materialdensities. For material densities in the2000 lb. per yd3, the following sizesshould be used:

The M325C MH should use the0.57 m3 (0.75 yd3) grapple with the7420 mm (24 ft 4 in) stick and the0.76 m3 (1.0 yd3) grapple with the6000 mm (19 ft 8 in) stick.

The M325C LMH should use the0.76 m3 (1.0 yd3) grapple with the7420 mm (24 ft 4 in) stick and the0.96 m3 (1.25 yd3) grapple can be usedwith the 6000 mm (19 ft 8 in) stick.

Extended Service Intervals.M325C MH/LMH service andmaintenance intervals have been extendedto reduce machine service time, increasemachine availability, and reduce operatingcosts. Using S•O•SSM analysis, hydraulicoil change intervals can be extended from2000 hours to 4000 hours. Engine coolantchange intervals are up to 6000 hourswhen Cat Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze is used.

Easy to Clean Coolers. Flat fins on allcoolers reduce plugging and make iteasier to remove debris.

Engine Inspection. The engine can beaccessed from both walkways and fromthe upper structure.

Air Filter. Caterpillar Radial Seal airfilters do not require tools to servicethem, thus reducing maintenance time.The air filter features a double-elementconstruction and built-in precleaner forsuperior cleaning efficiency. When theair cleaner plugs, a warning is displayedon the monitor screen in the cab.

Diagnostics and Monitoring.The M325C MH/LMH is equipped withS•O•S sampling ports for the hydraulicsystem and engine oil. A connectionfor the Electronic Technician (ET)is conveniently located in the cab.
