Individual: Ask the student to look at the pictures. Point to pictures randomly for the student to identify the correct action word. Ask questions focusing on the Present Progressive and elicit both yes and no answers. Then ask the student to talk about which actions they can/can’t do. Finally, ask them to talk about an action they do well/badly/quickly, etc. to practice the words for describing actions.
Class: Divide the class into pairs and allow them some time to identify each action word. Then ask them to ask each other questions about which actions they can/can’t do. Finally, encourage them to talk about actions they do using the descriptive words in Language lab 2.
Challenge: Invite a strong student or a group of strong students to talk about other actions they can do, e.g., climb, swim, dance, etc. and to describe how they do these actions (well, badly, beautifully, etc.).
