M. JEAN YOUNG CHARLES M. REIGELUTH

M. Jean Young is currently a doctoral candidate at Syracuse Univer- sity, where her research focuses on textbooks and the textbook selec- tion process. She has been a science teacher, curriculum developer, and textbook editor. She was a senior editor of Holt, Rinehart and Winston's life science series for grades 7-12. She also has been a re- search biologist, specializing in medicine, environmental science, and marine studies. Young earned her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and her master's from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Charles M. Reigeluth is professor of Instructional Systems Design in the School of Education at Indiana University, where he is develop- ing a Text Evaluation Center. For 10 years (1978-1988) he was on the faculIy of Syracuse University, where he served as chair of the Department of Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation. He also has been a secondary school science teacher. Reigeluth received his bachelor's degree in Economics from Harvard Universi- ty and his doctorate in Instructional Psychology from Brigham Young University. His current research efforts are focused on improving the quality of textbooks by improving the textbook selection process.
