Second Collection this Week: San Martin de Porres Second Collection next Week: Building Fund Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Will begin after Morning Mass followed by a closing Benediction at 4:00 PM on Friday. Religious Formation registration-For all students currently enrolled and new students registration will begin August 1, 2019. This includes Cate-chism, Confirmation, RCIA, and RICA. Virtus Renewal– If you still have not done your Virtus renewal or need

DECIMO SEPTIMO DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO = SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Pedir por nuestros hermanos y hermanas ……………………….……………………………………………de Nuestra Parroquia Hoy, como en los tiempos de la comunidad a la que habla Pablo en la segunda lectura, hay muchas tendencias espiritualistas, como la Nueva Era, que podrían poner en peligro la fe en el Dios personal y salvador en que creemos los cristianos por Cristo. oy, como en los tiempos de la comunidad a la que habla Pablo en la segunda lectura, hay muchas tendencias espiritualistas, como la Nueva Era, que podrían poner en peligro la fe en el Dios personal y salvador en que creemos los cristianos por Cristo. El Evangelio de este domingo tiene importancia especial para los creyentes. Recoge el momento en el que Jesús enseña a los discípulos la oración que seguimos rezando hoy y nos identifica como discípulos de Jesús: el Padrenuestro. Es importante subrayar el contexto en el que el evangelio sitúa esta oración. La acompaña de una catequesis en la que Jesús ilumina a los discípulos sobre la insistencia en la oración. Es la razón de la parábola o la historia del hombre que le pide pan a su amigo porque tuvo un visitante inesperado y de la confianza con la que debemos orar a Dios. La parábola compara la bondad de un padre con la bondad del Padre celestial. Además, la Iglesia en su liturgia hace que este Evangelio esté precedido por la lectura del Génesis en la que Abraham intercede ante Dios por los habitantes de Sodo-ma, a quienes Dios castigará por sus pecados. La oración que nos presenta no es una egoísta, de alguien que pide por su propio bien, sino que inter-cede por sus hermanos. Abraham participa en esa especie de regateo con Dios, para intentar encontrar algo que salve a sus hermanos, los habitan-tes de Sodoma, del castigo y la muerte que se avecina. Abraham no tiene nada que ver con ellos, excepto un sobrino que será salvado por Dios. Al resto de los habitantes de esa ciudad no les une ningún lazo más allá de pertenecer a la raza humana. Ellos son malos y por eso van a ser castigados, y Abraham es el elegido de Dios para ser el padre de muchos y depositario de la promesa. Podría haberse vuelto y no mirar a lo que iba a suceder o comentar con Dios que es necesario, aunque triste, extirpar el mal de la sociedad humana; pero hace exactamente lo contrario. Trata desesperada - mente de salvar a quienes se habían condenado por sus propias acciones y Dios cede ante él. La cifra de justos necesaria para salvar la ciudad baja de 50 a 10, por la insistencia de Abraham. Algo parecido puede decirse del Evangelio, donde el que va a pedir pan no lo hace para sí, sino para dar de comer a un amigo que había llegado a su casa. Podríamos decir que la clave de la oración está en la intercesión: pedir a Dios por nuestros her-manos. Para ello debemos sentir una gran solidaridad con todos. La muerte o el fracaso de nuestros hermanos es nuestra muerte y nuestro fracaso. Oremos intercediendo por ellos porque —como dice Jesús— si nosotros que somos malos damos cosas buenas a nuestros hijos, cuánto más nos dará el Espíritu de vida, el Padre celestial que nos ama tanto.

Today, as in the times of the community Paul speaks to in the second reading, there are many spiritualist tendencies, such as New Age, which can endanger the basis of faith in the personal God and savior in whom Christians believe through Christ. This Sunday’s gospel has special importance for believers. It gathers the moment in which Jesus teaches the prayer that we are still praying today and identifies us as disciples of Jesus: The Lord’s Prayer. It is important to emphasize the context in which the gospel places this prayer. It is accompanied by a catechesis in which Jesus enlightens the disciples about the insistence of prayer. It is the reason for the parable or story of a man who asks his friend for bread because he had an unexpected visitor and the trust with which we must pray to God. The parable compares the kindness of one of our fathers with the kindness of the heavenly Father. In addition, the Church in its liturgy makes sure this gospel is preceded by the reading in Genesis where Abraham intercedes before God for the inhabitants of Sodom, whom God will punish for their sins. The prayer presented to us is not one that asks selfishly, for our own good, but one that intercedes for our brothers and sisters. Abraham participates in a kind of bargaining with God, to try and find something that will save his brothers, the inhabitants of Sodom, from punishment and the death that lies ahead. Abraham has nothing to do with them, except a nephew who will be saved by God. With the remaining inhabitants in that city, there are no bonds beyond belonging to the human race. They are evil and will be punished for it, while Abraham is chosen by God to be the father of many and keeper of the promise. He could have turned away and not look at what was going to happen or discussed with God that it is nec-essary, although sad, to remove evil from human society; however, he does exactly the opposite. He tries desperately to save those who had been condemned by their own actions and God gives in to him. The number of righteous needed to save the city drops from 50 to 10, due to Abraham’s insistence. Something similar can be said of the Gospel, where the man who asks for bread does not do so for himself, but to feed a friend who has arrived in his home. We could say that the key to prayer is in the intercession: to ask God for our brothers and sisters. To do this we must feel a great solidarity with everyone. The death or failure of our brothers and sisters is our death and failure. Let us pray interced-ing for them because—as Jesus tells—if we who are evil give good things to our children, imagine how much the Spirit of life, the heavenly Father who loves us greatly, will give us.
