Marion C. Early School District Panther Press Volume 1 2018 Fall Semester Newsletter The Lady Panthers began the season strong, fighting off six opponents and a lot of rain. In their seventh game, the ladies fell in a tough game to Macks Creek with a score of 10-14. It was a hard loss, but the girls came back the next day to play in a rivalry game with the Walnut Grove Lady Tigers. With a lot of heart, determination, and support from the home crowd, the Lady Panthers pulled out a tough 9-6 win. The girls only kept winning after that. They had a record of 12-1 as they were in a battle with Norwood for the Summit Conference title. Facing their toughest test in the conference, the fighting Lady Panthers brought home a huge 5-4 win to claim their title as Summit Conference champions. The Lady Panthers went on to finish the regular season with a 15-1 record as they entered districts. After knocking off Fair Play in an 11-1 route in their first game of the district tournament, the Lady Panthers were set to play for the district title against the Walnut Grove Lady Tigers who were looking to avenge an earlier loss. In a riveting back and forth game, the Lady Panthers pulled out a walk-off win to secure the title with a score of 6-5. The Lady Panthers went on to play a tough Weaubleau team on their home field for the sectional game. Their great season came to an end as Weaubleau pulled out the victory 2-14. Can we say Yuck!!! We all need to do our part in helping keeping the sickness from spreading. If you can help keep your body strong on the inside you can help keep yourself from getting sick, or at least as sick. 1. Get plenty of rest. The more you over do it the more you wear your body down. Try and get 8-9 hours of sleep per night. 2. Eat healthy and drink lots of water. There is a saying, You are what you eat’. That is true to a point of course. If you eat junk food all the time your body is not able to build up any defenses to keep you from getting sick. If you eat healthy and drink water it will help your body build up defenses and help flush out the bad stuff. 3. Cover your coughs and sneezes and WASH YOUR HANDS!!!! Did you know that when you sneeze 3,000 infectious droplets can spray into the air at about 100+MPH? PLEASE keep that to yourself! 4. After you have been sick make sure you help get rid of all those germs. Get a new toothbrush, wash your bedding, coats, wipe down your phone, iPod, T.V. remotes, door knobs, etc. Cold and flu virus can live up to 24hrs on hard surfaces such as desks and tables. 5. If you have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or con- stant cough - stay home! Stay home from school, work, church, Walmart. STAY HOME! Nobody else wants it! On December 6, 2018, Marion

C. Early hosted its first annual

history bowl. The event

included 40 junior high and

high school teams ranging

from Kickapoo to Ava to

Richland. Three hundred

coaches and students were

fed pizza, baked potatoes,

and salad as they competed in

the event throughout the day.

Many of the other school’s

coaches were already ready

for the event next year.

Mr. Francka, Mr. Banks, and

Mr. Winslow were all

instrumental in putting on the

successful event. It also could

not have been completed

without the help of many

community volunteers, the

ladies in the cafeteria, Mr.

Woolard’s technology

skills, and the help of the

custodial staff.

Marion C. Early had two

high school teams and two

junior high teams compete

in the competition.
