The year was 2009. Local music had seen its share of bands come and go. There were country bands, there were

hard rock bands, there were original bands, and there were blues bands. One thing that was lacking though…

Classic Rock Bands…. And here begins R.A.T.L.’s story…

Three very seasoned musicians had recently parted ways with another band, but weren’t ready to give up. They

called on another musician friend, and in a small garage in Strong, PA, a new classic rock band was born. The

original members of R.A.T.L. included Ted Moncavage on lead guitar and vocals, Ron Berresford on Bass, Lynn

Earney on drums, and Amanda Krebs on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. What does R.A.T.L. mean you ask? It’s

their initials… Ron, Amanda, Ted and Lynn… it’s pronounced “rattle”

About a year into the band, Amanda called her dad Phil after one particularly great show and said, “I’m telling

you, I know you’re retired from playing, but just come to a practice, it will be fun.” A week later, Phil Krebs had

joined the band. A career bass player, he took on the role of rhythm guitar, allowing Amanda to take the role of

front person, but also adding in keyboards too, giving the band the edge it needed... We were off and running.

Playing clubs, picnics, parties and weddings, R.A.T.L. became very well known to the area, and also very busy.

This lineup played throughout central PA until 2011, when Ted became very ill and had to leave the band. The

band was devastated, but promised Ted they would keep on keepin on…. There was talk about a replacement,

and one was tried for a while, but nothing fit. Ted was irreplaceable… so they decided to just not replace him...

Amanda picked the guitar back up, and took on the role of rhythm guitar AND keyboards (sometimes at the

SAME time) and Phil, stepped up to the challenge of playing lead guitar.... If there is one thing, the band is

flexible. Lynn stayed on drums, Ron stayed on bass, and that leads us to the lineup they have today. From Hank

to Hendrix, from the Who to Linda Ronstadt, from Pink Floyd to Elton John. R.A.T.L. brings a mix of classic rock,

matched locally by no other. The time has come to open the vault and release the songs of the past… Classic

Rock has a new name…. and that name is R.A.T.L.

Phil comes to the band from Coal Township. A bass player, playing in bands like "Hydra" "BackTrack" and "Phoenix", Phil decided to try something different, and picked up the lead guitar job. After four years with the band, he's never looked back. Phil not only brings the lead guitar for every song, but

lead vocals for Santana, The Beatles, Dire Straits and More....He also lends his voice for harmonies on all other songs... Phil is a seasoned musician, being a member of a band on and off since the early

70's... Phil has said many times, he not only enjoys playing in a band, but getting to be in a band with his daughter makes it even better!!!

Lynn comes to the band from Mt. Carmel PA and brings the rhythm to the band... Lynn

is a very versatile percussionist adding everything from a basic drum line to the driving bass drum beats in "Gunpowder and Lead" to the force of “Dirty Deeds”. Lynn also

adds background vocals to all songs... when the band needs a laugh, Lynn is

guaranteed to bring it....

From the day she could walk and talk, Amanda was a musician... there was no doubt that this was what she was going to do with her life. Hailing from Coal Township, Amanda brings you the vocals from the

raspy rock of Janis Joplin and Melissa Etheridge to a haunting rendition of "House of the Rising Sun" You will also catch the unmistakable sounds of an Ovation acoustic guitar, keyboards, and even flute

and mandolin! Amanda credits her musical talents to her Dad (the lead guitar player) and her Mom for dealing with the many instruments that were brought home through the years, and thanks her local

musical influences, including Rusty, Jeff, Bob, Chris and Rick from Hybrid Ice, The Badlees, Geof Levan, Harpo and so many others.... Amanda enjoys performing and takes "Diva" as a compliment!!

The rocking bass lines and incredible background of the band R.A.T.L. come from none other than

Ron Berresford of Locust Gap, PA - Listen up for Ron's driving bass lines in "Black Magic Woman" and "White Rabbit" and the backbone of all that R.A.T.L. has to offer... Ron also adds his voice for the

background of almost all songs...

No band is ever complete without its stage crew, and R.A.T.L is no exception... Chuck came to the band about three years ago... he says he can't play an instrument and he only sings in the shower, but

wanted to get involved... so the band sat him behind the soundboard and from day one, the band wasn't going to let him go. Chuck has brought an element to the band they didn't have before, allowing

them to concentrate on playing instead of the sound and lights... Chuck comes to the band from Coal Township, and is the one who calls the lead singer "Diva" the most....

I guess you could say a little bit of everything… though the band promotes themselves as classic rock, there is

nothing that says that is “all” you’re going to hear… maybe some blues? Maybe some funk? Maybe even some

country? I mean, the band is from the Coal Region of Pennsylvania… if you ask nice, they might even play a

polka… but most of the night is driving classic rock from bands like The Who, Jefferson Starship, Motley Crue,

Poison, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, The Doobie Brothers and MORE….
