Today, Italy has approximately25 million phone lines. The In-

ternet users that surf the web areabout 12 million and 8 million ofthem use a broadband connec-tion. According to this data, wi-thin a couple of years, the mar-ket will be saturated and compe-tition will reduce prices. The onlyway to make the telecommunica-tions market grow is by equip-ping the network to deliver highreliability and high-definition

quality telecasts and ICT services(telemedicine, public administra-tion services). This means makinga hi-tech revolution and creatingthe Next Generation Network, anultra-broadband network thatcould assure a bandwidth of mo-re than 50 megabits. To achievethis result, the entire Internet ac-cess network should be revolutio-nized by bringing fibre optics in-to every Italian home and suppl-ying a real 50 megabits band-

width. At the moment, instead,the well-known “last mile” (i.e.the connection linking the localexchange to home) is made ofcopper and transmits low-defini-tion data. All of Italy will be con-nected via an ultra-broadbandnetwork that will convey teleca-re, bureaucracy, tele-educationand any other information thatthe Operators in the sector willwant to transmit, beginning withthe municipalities and provinces .

Le frontiere del futuro

Oggi in Italia abbiamo circa 25 milio-ni di linee telefoniche. Gli inter-

nauti, cioè coloro che viaggiano in In-ternet, sono circa 12 milioni. Quelli col-legati in banda larga sono circa 8 milio-ni. Da questi dati emerge che nel giro diun paio d’anni, il mercato andrà versola saturazione e a questo si aggiungel’abbassamento delle tariffe dovuto allaconcorrenza. Per fare crescere quindi ilmercato delle Telecomunicazioni l’unicasoluzione è quella che le reti dovranno

essere in grado di distribuire contenutitelevisivi e servizi ICT (telemedicina, ser-vizi per la pubblica amministrazione)con grande affidibilità e qualità in altadefinizione. Il che signifiva realizzareuna rivoluzione hi-tech e realizzare laNext Generation Network, la rete ultraBroadband, una rete cioè con una ban-da garantità superiore ai 50 Mega. Perfare questo occorre rivoluzionare tuttala rete di accesso portando il segnale infibra ottica fin sotto casa degli Italiani e

fornire tutti i 50 Mega di banda, men-tre al momento il famoso “ultimo mi-glio” (cioè il collegamento che va dallacentrale locale fino a casa) è costituitoin rame e permette il trasporto di daticon una bassa definizione. Tutta l’Italiasarà collegata in banda super-larga esopra quell’”autostrada” ci potrà tra-sportare teleassistenza, burocrazia, te-leistruzione, e qualunque tipo di infor-mazioni gli Operatori vorranno distri-buire, a iniziare da comuni e province.

Illancio della DE et DR è av-venuto il 29 novembrescorso a Londra, nell’esclu-siva residenza “HastingsHouse”, di proprietà di Pie-randrea Semeraro. Madri-na dell’inaugurazione l’at-trice Joely Richardson, cheha presentato la collezioneesposta come in una galle-ria d’arte, tra figure geo-metriche e splendide mo-delle. A fare da sfondocelebrità dell’arte, dellacultura, della finanza edel cinema da tutto ilmondo. Deborah Marti-nelli Bonavia ed i fratelliSemeraro sono legati dapercorsi culturali comunie dalla medsima passioneper l’eleganza e la moda:Deborah è una direttricecreativa a 360 gradi, dalla moda al-l’arte.
