The Performers Lise Christensen Born in Denmark, Lise Christensen first studied History and Music at The University of Copenhagen and subsequently singing at The Royal Danish Academy of Music and at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She completed her studies at The National Opera Studio, supported by The Friends of Covent Garden, a Jean Dunlop Bursary and the Sybil Tutton Charitable Trust. Lise is also a Samling Scholar and has taken part in masterclasses with Felicity Palmer, Sarah Walker, Sarah Connolly, Graham Johnson and Malcolm Martineau. Whilst at the GSMD, Lise won the Schubert Prize, The Crompton Lieder Award and The Philharmonia Chorus’ Prize as well as singing Aristeo in Rossi’s Orfeo at St John’s Smith Square. Lise’s professional engagements include the roles of Gertrude Hänsel und Gretel for Iford Arts, Hippolyta A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Marcellina Le Nozze di Figaro for English Touring Opera and cover for Scottish opera, Prince Orlofsky Die Fledermaus for London Lyric Opera/The RPO and for Scottish Opera on Tour, Harpie of War and She in Scottish Opera’s FIVE:15 2009, Olivia and Rosanna in Scottish Opera’s FIVE:15 2008 , Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro (cover) for Welsh National Opera, the title role in Carmen for Mid Wales Opera, Dorabella for GSMD, Garden Opera and London Opera Players, Francesca Zambello’s production of The Little Prince for BBC Wales, Dejanira Hercules (cover) at The Buxton Festival, Meg Page Falstaff for Stanley Hall Opera and Alisa Lucia di Lammermoor for New Sussex Opera. As an oratorio and concert soloist, Lise’s concert performances include Vaughan Williams A serenade to Music at Queen Elisabeth Hall under John Wilson, Beethoven Choral Symphony with The Manchester Camerata in Bridgewater Hall, Verdi Requiem in Truro Cathedral, Rossini Stabat Mater in The Brangwyn Hall and Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle with The Philharmonia Chorus. Charlotte Forrest Charlotte Forrest grew up in Somerset and read music at the University of Edinburgh. She continued her studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Eugene Asti and Graham Johnson, before joining the National Opera Studio as Leonard Hancock Scholar, and continues to study privately with Charles Owen. Previous performances include St Martin-in-the-fields, the Forge and the Bath Pump Rooms, and at the Saffron Walden and Gower Festivals for the Countess of Munster Trust. Winner of the Concordia Foundation Serena Nevill Prize she made her Wigmore Hall debut on April 18th, 2011 in the Concordia Founders Prize series. She is a 2011 Kirckman Concert Society Artist and will perform at the Wigmore Hall with Elena Xanthoudakis later in the 2011. She is a regular pianist for Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the Monteverdi Choir, and is a visiting member of music staff at Opera North, ENO, Scottish Opera, Garsington Opera, Buxton Festival, Riverside Opera and Iford Festival, and she performs abroad and around the UK with London Festival Opera.

The CONCORDIA FOUNDATION was established in 1994 and became a registered charity in 1995 with Yehudi Menuhin as its patron. St Martin-in-the-Fields has welcomed talented musicians to this central London platform for over 50 years - from highly acclaimed young soloists, to choirs from all over the world; from promising new ensembles, to established professionals. This tradition is supported by the generosity of our performers as well as our audiences. Whilst these concerts are free to all, for those able to give, a suggested donation of £3.50 would be greatly appreciated to help fund all aspects of the work at St Martin’s.
