Chalkboard Challenge

• In this game there are two different equations shown• You must solve the equations and tap the equation that has a greater value. • If they are equal you tap equal. • When you get 5 in a row correct you get an extra 15 seconds on the clock. • This is a great skill for students because they have to know how to solve

equations quickly and accurately. • It tests your knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, and

order of operations.• This is a challenging game because the idea of being timed is stressful, but

after a few rounds of the game it is easier to play

Speed Match

• This game is a type of memory game.• You start with a card with a specific shape on it. The card soon flips to

another one and you have to decide of the new card is the same as the last card shown.• Speed match reminds me of a timed concentration game.• This game would help students with their memory of past topics.• It also helps with recall and reference of prior knowledge.

Pet Detective

• In this game you have to tell the car where to go to pick up the pets and then tell the car where to drop them off. • At some point in the game there is a limited number of moves you

can have per round.• This game helps with critical thinking. Players have to figure out which

pet to pick up and drop off first. • The limit of moves that the player has creates the need to analyze

how the car moves.

Usability in the Classroom

• I would use lumosity in the classroom as a fun extra for my students. • I like the idea that it trains the brain in many different aspects including: memory,

math, recall, speed, and critical thinking.• This would be something that I would require the students to complete for a unit

and then after that they can use this in class if they complete their assignments or if I need a time filler to manage the classroom.• I like this app because they can use it in the classroom on their computers or the

iPad if that is what the school has. Students can also use this app outside of my classroom because it is using their own e-mail and so it gets personalized. • I like the idea that not all the students are going to have the same games as each

other every day. Some games are repeated from day to day, but eventually students will be able to play all the games unlocked.
