BACKGROUND:
Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement is a Global Movement institutionalized in 2010 to
spread Buddha’s peace and non-violence messages and promote Buddha's birthplace
Lumbini, Nepal all over the world by observing Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day as a global
holiday every year.
Originally, on December 1, 1896, Dr Anton Führer, a German archaeologist, had
discovered the Buddha’s birthplace when he found the Asoka Pillar at Lumbini. Even
though this site was first discovered by Khadga Shamsher Rana before Führer had
reached the site but Führer is credited for this discovery as he brought it into light and
made it known to the international community.
The Asoka Pillar is the most important evidence that Buddha was born in Lumbini.
Therefore, it was decided to observe December 1 as Kapilavastu Day. The historic
Kapilavastu, located close to Lumbini, is considered to be another holy pilgrimage for
the Buddhists since it was the place where the Buddha grew up and which he later
renounced seeking to understand the cause of human sufferings. The result of years of
excavations and researches by numerous national and international teams has been
that Tilaurakot is the historic Kapilvastu which UNESCO should certify as another World
Heritage, next to Lumbini.
INSTITUTIONALIZATION:
After celebrating the Kapilvastu Day as the Global Day for the first time in history on

Nepal, a country that I love. The Buddha was
born and lived 2,500 years ago, in an age
before modern-day boundaries were drawn
and before the idea of a nation-state even
existed. When I referred to the Buddha as
“Indian” I meant it only in the geographic
sense of the word, as a person hailing from the Indian subcontinent—not as a
citizen of a particular state. I apologize if I offended you.”

Dear Ram Kumar Shrestha,
Thank you for letting us know your concerns. I think you will be happy to know
that the film explicitly states:
In Southern Nepal, at the foot of the Himalayas, is one of the world’s holiest
places, Lumbini, where, according to the sacred tales, the Buddha was born.
As you will see, the film has beautiful images of Lumbini and the pilgrims who
travel there.
We hope that you will enjoy the documentary.
Sincerely yours,
David Grubin Productions
FTURE PLAN:
Our maximum effort will be to correct erroneous text books in some more

earthquake and now due to the high level security alert in Belgium
because of Paris attack) will be in our priority list.
We will hand over 3’ tall 50 kg of weigh Buddha statues to Nepal
government to send to USA and Australia. The date to establish them will
be decided only after concerned embassy or Consulate office will receive

In our felicitation list: ambassadors HE Ram Mani Pokharel, HE Muktinath
Bhatta, HE Ambika Manandhar Luintel, former ambassador Mohan
Krishna Shrestha, Jiba Lamichhane, Guinness book record holders Rabi
Lamichhane and Krishna Pandey, Prem Guragain, Prof. Kwaak Young
