The project
To support the March 11th earthquake and tsunami victims by bringing financial support to the work 2 NGOs :
• Save the Children JapanIn a special programme following the earthquake, its goal is to help restore and / or maintain education in the prefectures of Iwate and Miyagi, the most affected by the earthquake. It includes mainly the distribution of school kits, psychological support to children and the development of educational activities.
• CARE International Japan The project is set up to provide hot meals for victims who are currently in shelters / emergency structures.

The project
Since 2009, Schneider Electric has dedicated a three
year programme to supporting impoverished students
who have migrated from the country side to
metropolitan areas to undertake a two-year electrical
training course at Bai Nian Vocational School, the first
completely tuition free vocational education institution
in China. Schneider Electric has donated equipments
to establish electrical lab and provided training courses
to the students.
By 2011, the number of beneficiaries has reached 394
students from 5 schools in 5 cities (Beijing, Chengdu,
Zhengzhou, Wuhan and Nanjing).

Schneider Electric India Foundation aims to help people to change their life through access to energy. A special focus is given on education (electrician training for unemployed youth, scholarship to poor students to pursue engineering degree, educate school children about energy conservation), employment (employment support to trained electricians), entrepreneurship (training support to electricians to start an electrical business) and electrification (facilitate access to electricity at very remote areas without grid supply).

“Isang Litrong Liwanag” (A Liter of Light), a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-
friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to unprivileged communities nationwide. Designed and developed by
students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Solar Bottle Bulb is based on the
principles of Appropriate Technologies – a concept that provides simple and easily replicable
technologies that address basic needs in developing communities.
