Con il sostegno di COMUNE DI PARMA COMUNE DI BERCETO LUIGI MALERBA LITERARY PRIZE for Fiction and Screenwriting Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the Region of Emilia-Romagna, the Province of Parma, Berceto Municipality and Parma University, Luigi Malerba Literary Prize for Fiction and Screenwriting is among the cultural activities that Only Italia Academy avails itself of. It is awarded annually to novels, collections of short stories and screenplays written in Italian all over the world and it has presently reached its fourth edition. The Prize is dedicated to one of the best Italian writers, Luigi Malerba, who always held reflection and experimentation on language as a fundamental feature in his work. In fact, he did not only consider it as an instrument to express himself, but it soon became the very protagonist of his stories and the true subject of the narration. In addition, Luigi Malerba embodies one of the many local identities coexisting in Italy, which make its culture so rich. For the above reasons, and namely for his explicit awareness that language is a co- protagonist of his narrative and for his consciousness of the unavoidable connection with his own roots, the writer is perfectly emblematic of the way Italian literature has evolved, in constant clash between local and national demands, on every subject, including language. This is why Luigi Malerba Literary Prize is held by Only Italia Academy as a highly qualified element of its training courses, providing students with a prestigious opportunity to express their creativity and test their language skills. The Prize is awarded each year, at the end of the month of October, in Berceto, where the writer was born.. A press conference is annually held in Rome, while the jury meets the press and the public in Parma. The 2013 edition is devoted to novels and collections of short stories: any original work is eligible for admission. 1- ELIGIBILITY Anyone writing in Italian is entitled to participate.

LUIGI MALERBA LITERARY PRIZE for Fiction and Screenwriting

Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the Region of Emilia-Romagna, the Province of Parma, Berceto Municipality and Parma University, Luigi Malerba Literary Prize for Fiction and Screenwriting is among the cultural activities that Only Italia Academy avails itself of.

It is awarded annually to novels, collections of short stories and screenplays written in Italian all over the world and it has presently reached its fourth edition.

The Prize is dedicated to one of the best Italian writers, Luigi Malerba , who always held reflection and experimentation on language as a fundamental feature in his work. In fact, he did not only consider it as an instrument to express himself, but it soon became the very protagonist of his stories and the true subject of the narration.

In addition, Luigi Malerba embodies one of the many local identities coexisting in Italy, which make its culture so rich. For the above reasons, and namely for his explicit awareness that language is a co-protagonist of his narrative and for his consciousness of the unavoidable connection with his own roots, the writer is perfectly emblematic of the way Italian literature has evolved, in constant clash between local and national demands, on every subject, including language.
