dear reader, thank you for your interest in the London School of Performing Arts Practices. LSPAP has been established after 30 years of practice in the field of perfor-mance, anthropology and theatre. it was born from the belief that at the center of the actor’s craft and training must be the performers themselves. LSPAP is rooted in the coordination technique, the unique technique based on integrating acting tools, created by grzegorz Bral and oth-er practitioners from Song of the goAt theAtre. Acting is as demanding as being a musician. the actor must train the voice, body, imagination, awareness, sponta-neity, and so on. But most of all, the ac-tor must practice techniques. theatre is composed of methaphors and symbols. modern theatre requires a new approach

to acting. At LSPAP, we taste and touch several different techniques originating in different cultural traditions. teachers from Africa, Asia, and europe will share knowledge on performative techniques and contemporary theatre directors will compose new style performances based on the learnt techniques . the “Bral’s method” means that theatrical performance does not orig-inate from concepts but rather from techniques. this particular school of per-forming arts practices will teach stu-dents how to use different techniques and, through the process of integrating them, create their own original work.

2 yeArS / 3 termS of 12 WeekS eAchmondAy-fridAy 6 hoUrS A dAy/ 30 h contAct Work Per Week

every term consists of 12 weeks. it is divided into three blocks of work – 3 weeks with one technique and the prac-titioner who represents it; 3 weeks with another technique and practitioner; and 6 weeks with a theatre director lead-ing to a work presentation (production). Apart from these classes, students will receive additional ongoing teachings on text, voice, and integrating body, based on coordination technique. the main emphasis of this work is to achieve the

understanding of different techniques of acting and to be able to transform them into a theatre production. this will allow us to develop new theatrical conventions, and use the unique relationships between given methods and the individual skills of a group of actors throughout the rehearsing process. After 2 years of study, students will achieve LSPAP qualification called “thea-tre Practicioner”.

LSPAP also offers shorter trainings in the form of the courses and workshops, which can be held in different countries. the main aim of those courses is to give the first insight into the LSPAP train-ing method and to enhance the experi-ence of those who already have some.

Short workshops can be taken as a preface for long-term courses. for more information about the work-shops and current short courses, please visit oUr website: www.lspap.com

Bral’S method

the original acting method was developed by grzegorz Bral and other practitioners teachers and actors. main inspiration for this technique came from very spiritually advanced teacher and doctor from tibet, dr. Akong tulku rin-poche. this technique assumes that all acting tools are interconnected and in-terchangeable at the same time, thus al-lowing it to open up new possibilities of expression by reaching into the actor’s imagination and skills. it also assumes that all aspects of our life are intercon-nected and interdependent, such as en-vironment, behaviours, and creativity.

performative techniqueS

LSPAP invites teachers from indig-enous and traditional cultures, who will give students an introduction to perform-ing techniques from all over the world. thanks to these practices, students will be able to refer to ancient or even archaic techniques of performative activities and apply them to modern drama. By know-ing other sources of acting, students will enrich their own individual techniques.

rehearSing and performing

We believe that practice is the best way to shape the best actor. LSPAP will give every student a chance to work with different directors. in addition to the practice of various techniques, each se-mester will include work on performanc-es with acclaimed directors. following a few weeks of rehearsals, the theatre piece will be confronted with an audience.

vocal Work

one of the essential ingredients of the process of training an actor is voice work. text, breath, sound, understand-ing, analysis, working with character, and so on. this training will be on-going throughout the entire two-year course.
