    he end o the school year is just around the corner! As we get ready or the summer sun, well

    be learning about many o the wonderul things summer brings, like warm weather, growinggardens, buzzing bees, and caterpillars changing into butteries. Well perect the skills weve

    learned this year, practice summer saety, and make a ew more lasting memories.

    Kids Village Gives BackWe believe that each and every child has the potential to make a dierence

    in the world. We teach children that it is never too early to start helping those around them. Tis month

    we have the opportunity to help children in Ecuador. A representative rom Kids Village will be traveling

    to Ecuador to volunteer at an orphanage in need. Your amily can help, too, by making donations to our

    Kids Village Gives Back und throughout the month o May.We will match every dollar donated

    and all of the funds collected will be delivered directly to the orphanage this summer. We are excited

    to help children in other parts o the world and want everyone at Kids Village to participate in some

    way. Help your child think o ways to contribute and make a dierence or someone in need. We will be

    introducing the undraiser during a school assembly on May 1st and 2nd. More inormation will be sent

    via e-mail.

    Please take note o our fnal Parent eacher Conerence or this school year, held on May 3rd and 4th.

    We are anxious to share your childs progress with you as well as some o the wonderul experiences we

    have had with them. Our conerences will be an open house style. You are welcome to come on either

    May 3rd from 1:007:00pm or May 4th from 9:003:00pm. All o our teachers will be available

    during these times, so stop by when its convenient or you, no appointment necessary. Tere will be NO

    SCHOOL on both May 3rd and 4th.

    National eacher Appreciation Week is coming up on May 7th11th.We are excited to take this

    opportunity to show our teachers how much we love them. Your child can be part o our eacher

    Appreciation Week by simply writing a special note, drawing a picture, or making a homemade git. It

    doesnt need to be something elaborate or expensive, just let your teachers know how much you love and

    appreciate them!

    Class graduations will be held the week oMay 14th18th. Watch your e-mail or more detailedinormation about when your childs graduation ceremony is scheduled. We hope you can join us or this

    great celebration!

    Kids Village Spirit Week is May 21st25th. Start hunting now or your craziest hats, outfts, and hair-dos

    to wear during the last week o school. On Monday wear your silliest hair-do; on uesday wear sports

    gear; on Wednesday we want to see your best hat, and on Tursday and Friday wear your Kids Village

    t-shirts. Te last week o school also brings our eddy Bear Picnic, complete with our avorite books,

    stued animals, and o course plenty o yummy snacks. Watch or an e-mail with more inormation about

    your childs class picnic.

    Dont orget to turn in all o your home reading books beore May 15th. Let us know i you have books

    that are lost or damaged so we can get them replaced.

    Also, our lost and ound is overowing! We plan to donate all unclaimed items to charity. So i your childis missing a jacket, sweater, hair clip, or lunch box, please come by and take a look.

    1, 2, 3, 4, school has taught us so much more. 5, 6, 7, 8,

    summer sun just cant wait. 9, 10, 11, 12, look what we can

    do ourselves! With the year almost over, we can hardly

    believe the progress our youngest students have made. It ha

    been so much un to see them grow and learn throughout

    the year. Here are a ew more things we will learn beore the

    year is through:

    Week #1 - April 30th - May 4th - - Review

    Reviewing all o the Letters and Sounds we have learned,

    tracing our names, reading the book One Whale and

    practicing counting, matching pairs, and using our class

    parachute.

    Week #2 - May 7th - 11th - Travel the World

    Learning about the Letter W, reading the book ravel with

    Pops, writing our names, comparing and sorting items we

    take on vacation, graphing our avorite destination, and

    naming shapes and flling a pattern with shapes.

    Week #3 - May 14th - 18th - I Can Discover

    Learning about the Letters X, Y, and Z, identiying and

    matching sounds, read the book Grasshopper on the Road

    observing and describing things around us, recall ing missing

    items, and reciting the alphabet.

    Week #4 - May 21st - 25th - Last Week of School

    Reviewing all o the Letters and Sounds we have learned,

    writing our names, reading the story Te Tree Little Pigs

    and sequencing pictures rom the story, and having oureddy Bear Picnic.

    We want every student to come away rom this school year with a greater sense

    o confdence in his or her ability to learn and explore new things. We have a

    school ull o incredible students with limitless potential and our greatest wish

    is that they will have the courage to ollow their dreams and the confdence to

    make their dreams a reality.

    Te children will love participating in a ew

    Science Experiments this month as we practice

    observing and describing the things we see. We

    will also learn about the Wol or the Letter W,

    the X-Ray Fish or the Letter X , the Yak or

    Letter Y and the Zebra or Letter Z.

    Art

    Te art a child creates is important to them and

    helps them eel confdent. We have made some

    beautiul artwork this year. Here are the last

    ew projects we will be making beore summer

    arrives: Paper Plate Watermelon or Letter W,

    Mixed up X or Letter X , Yarn Art or Letter Y,

    and Zebra Masks or Letter Z.

    KitchenWe will use all o the things we have learned

    about using kitchen tools, stirring, measuring,

    and pouring to make some great recipes to fnish

    up our last month o school.

    MusicTe children are so excited to perorm or you

    during our Graduation Programs. Tey have

    worked hard to learn their songs and poems. We

    have been working on the poem I Will Be Kind

    too.

    Social StudiesTroughout the year we have tried to learn how

    to control our actions and to think about others

    more careully. Tis month we will learn about

    how we can help others and show that we care by

    doing service.
