Because of exlcnsh"c civil engineering \,'ork naxt 10 the Ummat ri \'cr, as weil as thc resuhing demolition of the Icmporary containers with the glass shcHer, a ncw oo"cred working place with additional office spare and storeroom was rcquired for the metal \\'orkshop of the youlh culture ccntre MOynamo". As areaction 10 the strict legal and lechnical oonditions of thc plaee. the oe ..... metal workshop unifics the diffefCnt functiOlls and parts of the building lo a compaCI unity. Thc square (oolprint of the oonstruction body exactJy limits thc surface thaI ean be buHt upon. Placed next 10 liste<! buildings, thc new mushroom·shapcd pavilion offers open space fo r craft activi ties on thc formerlr hetcrogcncous and light spacc. Thc canlilc\'cred roof offers on all four sides a gcnerous covercd spaee for metalworking and treatment that can be used all year round, in summer and in willtertimc. Through the slight twist of the roof geometry towards the di rection of Ule river, the pavilion appears as a self-confident building 10 the Ummat footpath. The construetion as weil as the envelopc of the huilding is inspired by the material metal and its processi ng. The structure is a skeletal slccl oollSlruetion with wide ca ntilevers Oll its four sides. An industrially fabricate<l metal profi le-grid eo\'crs the construetion on its facade, Oll the edges and bottom side of the roof, generaling a homogeneous appearance. The deepl)' drawn pUllchcd holes give lhe metal shcct thc ncce5Sary mechallica l s tabil ity and lend the facade an effect of depth al the same time. Rh'et-shaped screws are used 10 fix the facade panels sild recallthe original connection lechnology of stccl construelion. The em·elope as weil as the conSlruction is hot-dip gahllnised, in contrast to the rusting meta) chips originating from the stccl processing, which dye the /leW asphalt noor slightl)' rc<Idish. The heated office space stands autonomously bctwccn the stccl framcwo rk elements and its interior is fully covered with osn boards, whieh contrast with the metal character of Ihe exterior. The perforation as weil as the struct urc of the metal grid generales an effect of dcpth to thc facade by means of the point of \""iew and the incidence of light. and reveals insights in to the spaces behind. At the same time the perforation offcrs a multifunClional surface upon whieh additionallayers such as the signage and 1100ks ean be fixcd. Sunshine changes the facade into a gliuering mctal body. At night the building rcveals iLS illuminatoo core and transfonns the building into a light transparent bod)'. The Intcrplay bctween trallsparellCY and closeness, belwccn ease and compactness, lends a changcablc character 10 the building.
