Lake Pointe Yard ofthe Month

NeighborhoodRecommendations

The Lake Pointe Board of Director’s is actively working toward resolving several issues in the neighborhood. Some of theseissues include but are not limited to: neglected yards, outstanding assessments, and community maintenance and repair. If youare interested in learning more about these issues and how the BOD is working towards resolution please come to the monthlymeetings. Unless posted otherwise, the monthly BOD meetings are at the Narcoossee Community School Media Center at 7PM

on the first Tuesday of each month. The BOD is required to notice the neighborhood by signage 48hours in advance of the scheduled meeting. Many of your concerns or questions regarding thecommunity can be answered at these meetings.

On December 17th, the HOA is holding the Annual Members Meeting. All Homeowners willreceive written notice of this meeting 2 weeks in advance. The notice will also include an

agenda for the evening’s meeting. This meeting may involve issues that require aHomeowner vote, as well as the election of new officers. If you only go to one meeting ayear, this is the meeting to attend. There will also be sign up sheets for committeesincluding Neighborhood Watch, the C.A.R.E. Committee and other committees that need

volunteers. Finally, the Lake Pointe Board of Directors would like to wish you and your family a very happy,

healthy holiday season!

The Lake Pointe Neighborhood Watch is in the planning and organization stage of development. The role of the NeighborhoodWatch is to be the “eyes and ears” for the police force. Roles in the program include the coordinator and block captainsassigned to each street. If suspicious activity is noted, the block captain will call the police (if needed) and then call thecoordinator who will contact all block captains. Block captains contact designated residents on their street in order to keep theminformed of the suspicious activity.During the October 29 Neighborhood Watch Meeting Deputy Joe Whitson recommended many steps residents can take to detercrime. Leaving outside lights on and trimming bushes close to the home make it more difficult for a thief to hide. Other tipsinclude adding reinforced screws to door knobs, placing a piece of wood in the slider portion of the sliding glass door, andlocking car doors in your driveway. The following are a summary of the important phone numbers to keep handy:911 – Police Emergency407-348-2222 Police Non Emergency407-348-1190 Community Services407-348-1174 – Drug Hot Line321-697-4374 – Gang Hot LineIf any suspicious activity is noted in the neighborhood, please make it a point to call one of the numbers and have it checked out.It is all of our responsibility to keep Lake Pointe a safe community.

Lake Pointe Homeowners are asked to familiarize themselves with the Declarations and Covenants. Being familiar with thecontents of this document will help to eliminate the violation letters that some homeowners have been receiving. If you havereceived a letter of violation, most often that violation can be easily corrected with a simple application to the ARC.

Some Homeowners have contacted the property manager after receiving a letter complaining about the maintenance of otherhomes in the neighborhood. Be assured that the Board of Directors is dealing with these situations. There are several cases inthe neighborhood, where unresolved violations have been sent to the HOA attorney for further review and action.

James Lord Pierpont (1822-1893), the Author of the Christmas carol,

, wrote the song in 1857. The song wasmeant for a Thanksgiving program at a church inSavannah, Georgia where Pierpont was organist. Thesong was so well accepted that it was again sung onChristmas day and since then became one of the mostpopular Christmas carols.

On December 16, 1965, astronauts aboard Gemini 6,Wally Schirra and Tom Stafford, played a prank onMission Control. They said they saw some kind of UFOstating that the pilot was "wearing a red suit". They thenplayed "Jingle Bells" on a harmonica (Hohner's LittleLady model) backed by sleigh bells. Both instrumentsare now on display at the Smithsonian National Air andSpace Museum and considered the first song andmusical instruments played in space.

Lyrics (Excerpt):Dashing through the snowIn a one horse open sleighO'er the fields we goLaughing all the wayBells on bob tails ringMaking spirits brightWhat fun it is to laugh and singA sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bellsJingle all the wayOh, what fun it is to rideIn a one horse open sleighJingle bells, jingle bellsJingle all the wayOh, what fun it is to rideIn a one horse open sleigh
