National Voters Day

Venue – IG- 403 and Basketball court January 2018

National Voters Day was observed in the campus and new voters’ registration was conducted. NSS Unit conducted voters registration program on February 9th 2018 in the campus on the instructions of election commission of India’s to encourage young voters to enrol in voters list. Mr. Pandu Ranga Rao the assistant commissioner of GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) had visited and encouraged the students to register and fill the voters’ forms. Most of the students of the college attended the camp and some of them who are eligible have registered themselves as voters. It was very helpful programme organized by NSS unit collaborated with GHMC.

Sankalp Se Siddhi Pledge - Diamond Jubilee of Quit India Movement

Date – 23 August 2017 Venue – Inigo Block Fore ground Loyola Academy Degree & PG College organized an event called “SANKALP SE SIDDHI" which was taken by University Grants Commission (UGC) to create a New India which is free from poverty, corruption, terrorism and other vices that hinder the growth of our country from becoming a superpower. The University Grants Commission (UGC) in association with Ministry of Human Resource & Development instructed all the institutions to take up New India Pledge to ignite patriotic spirit among the future citizens. The event was flagged off by the Vice-Principal of UG Rev. Fr. Dr. L. Joji Reddy encouraged and motivated students by his inspiring message on India’s Independence. The head boy, Mr.Chekreeshwar led the students to recite a New India Pledge.

Let us together pledge that by 2022 we build a New India.

Let us together pledge towards a Clean India.

Let us together pledge towards a Poverty free India.

Let us together pledge towards a Corruption free India.

Let us together pledge towards a Terrorism free India.

Let us together pledge towards a Communalism free India.

Let us together pledge towards a Casteism free India.

The program was concluded by the National Anthem. Everything was organized solemnly.

Voters’ awareness program

Date – 16 August 2017 Venue – Inigo Hall

In collaboration with Indiafolck.com the news analysis organization, the NSS unit volunteers of Loyola took part in a panel discussion on Indian Democracy, Elections and students participation. For this program Mr.Sampath, the former Chief Election Commissioner of India was invited. He gave a talk and interacted with the students in the college campus. This programme could able to bring good focus on the values of democracy and the importance and awareness of vote among the students of the College.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-17

Constitution day Date - 26th November 2016 Venue – Inigo Hall On the account of Constitution Day, a orientation session was organised by the NSS unit to explain about the importance of the fundamental laws of our nation. The speaker of the orientation session Dr. G. Ratna Vani, the NSS programme officer who is also Lecturer in Public Administration at Loyola Academy.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-16 GHMC Elections Duties Date – 3 September 2014 Venue – Polling Stations at Alwal For the GHMC Elections, the NSS Unit of Loyola Academy was approached for the volunteers by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. A selected interested active member of NSS took part in the GHMC Election Duties held on 2nd and 3rd February 2016 and help out the authorities in conducting free and fair elections.

Human Rights Day Date – 10 December 2015 Venue – Inigo Hall

Human Rights Day is observed by the NSS Unit on 10 December 2015. On this occasion volunteers of NSS, NCC, Student Council and and other interested college student convened and Rev. Fr. Dr. K. S. Casimir SJ, the Principal delivered a speech on the significance of Human Rights Day stating it’s history that in the year 1948 United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The NCC Cadets, NSS volunteers and Council Members called out a ‘Human Rights Rally’ form Inigo Hall to within the entire campus emphasising the inalienable rights of every human, inherently entitled to as a human being -- regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Constitution Day Date – 26 November 2015 Venue – Quadrangle of PG Block NSS Volunteers along with the NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Jagadish convened at 12:00 pm to observe the Constitution Day. Mr. Akhil Bhaneswar (NMC-39), NSS Volunteer read out the Preamble of India on this auspicious occasion. Mr. Jagadish gave a small talk on the importance of the Indian Constitution and its uniqueness from the others. He also emphasised on Fundamental Rights and Duties that every citizen of must follow. Ms. Tanisha (NMC-23) quoted the certain importance articles from the Indian Constitution like Article 51A, Article 80 and also the amendments like 61st Amendment (1986), 42nd Amendment (1976) and 86th Amendment (2002).

NSS DAY Date – 24 September 2015 Venue – NSS Rock Marking the first anniversary of the NSS Unit at Loyola Academy the NSS Foundation Rock was inaugurated with the College premises. All the NSS volunteers convened at the NSS Rock and it was inaugurated by the Vice Principal, Rev. Dr. L. Joji Reddy SJ at 10:30 am. The NSS Programme , Mr. Jagadish proposed the welcome address and shared his vision of the social service work to be done in the college by the volunteers. Fr. Casimir highlighted the important of the motto of NSS, ‘Not me, But You’ and reviewed the meaning of the it and requested students to uphold the motto with utmost humility.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2014-15 Career Counseling session to join Indian Army

Date – 16 December 2014 Venue – Inigo Hall

An Orientation programme on the Indian Army was organised in the college premises for the students and NCC Cadets. Captain Mr. Shah conducted the programme at Inigo Hall. The session was on how to join the Indian Army. This session was followed by a Graduates Permanent Commission , Graduates Short Service Commission . Students were also made familiar with Service Selection Board (SSB) which goes on for five days including – Intelligence Test, Picture Perception Test, Group Discussion, Lecture , Thematic Apperception Test and Interview etc.

INAUGURATION OF NSS UNIT Date – 3 September 2014 Venue – PG Seminar Hall The NSS unit of Loyola Academy launched on the 3rd of September 2014 at 10 am, by the NSS Osmania University coordinator by Prof. Reddy Naik. He delivered the presidential address. In his speech, he spoke about the motto of National Service Scheme “Not Me But You” and encouraged the NSS Volunteers to be more helpful for others than be selfish. The program started by NSS song played on the screen in the PG Seminar Hall. The Chairman of the NSS Unit and the Principal of the college Dr. K.S.Casimir gave welcome address. The correspondent Fr Francis Xavier blessed the occasion.The Osmania University extension officer Mr Ravi Teja explained the the mission, objectives etc.,The guests are honoured by

INAUGURATION OF NCC WING Date – 3 September 2014 Venue – Inigo Block Fore ground The inauguration of NCC wing organized a parade of Cadets and Guard of Honor had been given to Principal Rev. Father Dr. K S Casmir SJ. On this occasion Vice- Principal Rev. Fr Dr. Jogi Reddy SJ, Rev. Fr Kishore SJ, Dr. Raja Reddy, Dean of Sciences, Dr. Sadhana Jayaswal, Dean of Academics and Dr. Maria Das, Dean of Administration graced the occasion with their presence. The cadets were congratulated for their new role and wished them with the choicest blessings and greetings by all the staff members.

Course on Media Values and Child rights by Dept. of Mass communication Date - 19 June 2014 to 27 June 2014

Venue – Mass Communication Studio The Asmita Resource Centre for Women conducted a 20 hour course in the college premises for the students of B.A Mass Communication. The aim of the course was to instill media values with respect to the fundamental right, Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression and Child Rights in the budding journalism students. A week long intensive study was conducted to strengthen the understanding of how children’s right can generate news stories and features for print and broadcast media. Many activities such as handout reading, group discussion, seminars and assignments were conducted to develop interest and curiosity in the young minds. The facilitators Pallavi, Shilpa and Srinidhi created a learning environment which brought in a drastic change on the thought process of the students.
