Who is Erich Segal?• b. Erich Wolf Segal in
1937• American author,
screenwriter, and educator
• best-known for writing the novel Love Story and the motion picture of the same name
• Son of a Rabbi• Attended Midwood High School in Brooklyn
and took summer courses in Switzerland• Attended Harvard College, graduating as both
the class poet and Latin salutatorian in 1958• Obtained his master's degree (in 1959) and a
doctorate (in 1965) in comparative literature, from Harvard University
• Professor of Greek and Latin literature at Harvard University, Yale University and Princeton University
• d. January 17, 2010 at age 72 due to a heart attack after suffering Parkinson’s disease
• Buried in London• Most notable works include Love Story and it’s
1977 sequel Oliver’s Story, and among various novels and screenplays, the script for The Beatles’ 1968 film Yellow Submarine.
