Love Him or Hate Him: A Piece on Tim Tebow By: Kaelin Murphy Tim Tebow was a great college football player, yet he hasn’t a decent pro career so far. Recently, Tebow was booted off by the New York Jets. I asked two football coaches here at Northwestern what they think of Tebow. The coaches that I asked are Coach McCleod and Coach Sanders and below are their responses. Do you like Tim Tebow? Coach Sanders: Yes, I believe that he’s a great person who believes in God. Plus, he’s a great quarterback. Coach McCleod: He is a good person, but he’s a terrible quarterback in the NFL. Do you think that Tebow was a good quarterback in college? Coach McCleod: He was better because there was a different type of offense used when he was in college. Coach Sanders: He was great. Do you agree with the New York Jets decision to cut Tim Tebow? Coach Sanders: No, you need people like that on your team for moral support and to show other players the way that they’re supposed to act. Coach McCLeod: Yep, They pick up Juno Smith this year in the draft. If they would keep him, that would have given them four quarterbacks on one team Where do you think Tebow will play next? Coach McCleod: Overseas. Coach Sanders: I would love for him to play with the Panthers or the Red Skins. People will cite Tim Tebow as one of the greatest college football players in sports history. Is that opinion based on his ability to play the game or his personality? Tebow stands for a lot of good things like family, abstinence, and God but what does that have to do with football?
