JANE ADDAMS: One of the most prominent women of the Progressive Era, Addams co-founded the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) as well as the first U.S. settlement house (Hull House). Among her noted accomplishments, Addams was dedicated in the arenas of:
• International peace activism • Abolitionism • Women’s suffrage • And was the first American
female recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize (1931)
