Los Adjetivos Demostrativos
Point out persons, places or things relative to the position of the speaker – distance from the speaker.
They always agree in number and gender with the noun they modify.
Always come in front of the noun.
Los adjetivos
• We use these adjectives to describe things in relationship to the speaker.
• In English we use:
• This/these (Close to the speaker)
• That / those (farther from the speaker)
• Remember: (in Spanish) This and these have the T’s, That and those don’t

Los Pronombres Demostrativos
Demonstrative pronouns are formed the same as demonstrative adjectives, except they get an extra accent over the first e.
Demonstrative pronouns translate to this one, that one, or that one (over there)
Tengo este libro, pero prefiero ése. (I have this book, but I prefer that one)
Me gusta esta casa, pero me gusta más aquélla. (I like this house, but I really like that one- over there)
NOTE: There is never a noun after a demonstrative pronoun!!
• ___________ libro que yo tengo aquí es diferente que ________ libro que tú tienes en la mano.
• ___________ casa que vimos ayer era muy grande.
Los pronombres demostrativos
• There is also a pronoun form which, like all pronouns, takes the place of the noun.
• These differ from the adjectives in that the all have accent marks on the e
éste
éstos
ése
ésos
Aquél
aquéllos
ésta
éstas
ésa
ésas
Aquélla
aquéllas
Neutral
• The pronoun form only has a neutral form to express the unknown or an idea:
• (these do not require accents)
• Esto
• Eso
• Aquello
(libro) éste
(Manzanas) ésas
¿? aquello
Location Adverbs
• To point out where something is use the adverbs:
Aquí / acá
(right here) / (over here)
Allí / allá
(there specific) / (there general)
