Today marks the finale of the Dodgers’ six-game road trip (3-2) and following this afternoon’s game, the club will return to Los Angeles for its final series before the All-Star break, a four-game set against the Padres. Los Angeles has the National League’s best road record at 29-18 (.617) and is unbeaten in its last seven road series (6- 0-1), last losing a series on the road at Arizona, May 16-18. The Dodgers need a win today to avoid being swept for the first time in their 30 th series of the season. Los Angeles has gone 8-7 in Interleague Play this season. Following today’s game the Dodgers have only four games remaining against American League opponents, the Freeway Series against the Angels, Aug. 4-7. SIMPLY OFFENSIVE: The Dodgers have been downright offensive this road trip, averaging 6.4 runs per game (32 R/5 G) with a .301 team batting average (55-for-183), a .371 on-base percentage and a .415 slugging percentage. The team has combined to hit .440 (22-for-50) with runners in scoring position and has posted four five- run innings through the first five games of its road trip. Matt Kemp has seven hits in his last two games and has reached base safely in all four of his games this road trip, combining to post a .438 batting average (7-for-16) with a .500 on-base percentage. Juan Uribe had two hits last night, including a two-run homer, and has hit safely in all five games this trip, batting .435 (10-for-23) with a double, a home run and five RBI. Dee Gordon is batting .423 (22-for-52) with three doubles, a triple and two RBI in his last 13 games since June 25, including a .368 mark (7-for-19) with a .400 on-base percentage in five games on the club’s current road trip. THE STOPPER: Zack Greinke will make his third consecutive start following a Dodger loss, going 2-0 and allowing only three runs (two earned runs) in 15.0 innings (1.20 ERA) in his previous two starts, and has been helping Los Angeles bounce back after losses since joining the club last year. Since 2013, Greinke has made 20 starts following a Dodger loss and has posted a 14-2 record with 1.92 ERA (28 ER/131.0 IP), while the team has gone 17-3 in those games. Today will mark Greinke’s final start before the All-Star break. With a victory, he would become the 19 th Los Angeles Dodger to post 12 or more wins before the All-Star break and the first to do so since 1991, when Ramon Martinez was 12-3. Greinke is tied for the National League wins lead (11-4) and also ranks among the league leaders in ERA (2.66, 7 th ) and strikeouts (119, 5 th ). Greinke has gone 13-6 with a 2.74 ERA (45 ER/148.0 IP) in 27 games (24 starts) in his career against Detroit, including an 8-4 mark with a 2.62 ERA (22 ER/75.2 IP) in 15 games (13 starts) at Comerica Park. He fired complete games in back-to-back outings against the Tigers in 2009 as a member of the Royals, allowing only an unearned run on three hits on April 24 and one run on six hits on May 26 in identical 6- 1 Kansas City wins at Kauffman Stadium. Los Angeles starters have combined to post a Major League- leading 3.13 ERA (194 ER/558.1 IP), while overall the club ranks among the NL leaders in ERA (3.35, 5 th ) and strikeouts (776, 1 st ). SWINGING FOR THE FENCES: Dodger outfielder Yasiel Puig will compete in the 2014 Gillette Home Run Derby on Monday, July 14. The announcement was made last night on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” by National League Derby captain Troy Tulowitzki. Puig, who has 12 home runs on the season, will compete in his first career Derby after hitting 19 home runs in his first big league season in 2013. His 31 homers in his first two seasons are currently the fourth-most by a Cuban-born player in MLB history behind Cespedes (49), Jose Canseco (38) and Alexei Ramirez (36). Puig will become the fifth player (seventh appearance) in Dodger history to take part in the Derby, joining Mike Piazza (1993-94), Raul Mondesi (1995), Hee-Seop Choi (2005) and Matt Kemp (2011-12). The Dodgers will have four representatives on the NL All- Star team: second baseman Dee Gordon, right-handed pitcher Zack Greinke, left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw and outfielder Yasiel Puig. Puig was a fan-elected starter, Gordon and Kershaw were selected to the team as a result of player balloting, while Greinke was chosen by NL manager Mike Matheny. MOTOR CITY MATCHUP: Two of the American League’s last

five Cy Young Award winners, Max Scherzer (DET, 2013) and Zack

Greinke (KC, 2009), will square off as the Dodgers and Tigers

conclude their two-game series at Comerica Park. Today marks the

finale of the Dodgers’ six-game road trip (3-2) and following this

afternoon’s game, the club will return to Los Angeles for its final

Los Angeles has the National League’s best road record at

29-18 (.617) and is unbeaten in its last seven road series (6-
