When using adjectives in Spanish…

• Remember that most adjectives in Spanish are either masculine or feminine, and can be singular or plural…all depending on the noun/nouns being described.

• Adjectives must always match the noun in gender and number.

• Some adjectives stay the same for both genders…make sure to watch out for them. (ex: inteligente, deportista, joven, etc.)

Page 3: Los Adjetivos

To make them a certain gender / number…

• When an adjective ends in an “o”, you make it feminine by simply removing the ‘o’ which makes it masculine and add an ‘a’ Ex: alto = alta, delgado = delgada

• To make adjectives plural, simply add an ‘s’ if it ends in a vowel. If it ends in a consonant, add ‘es’.
