Term 3 / Week 4 / 12 August 2020
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Education Week Last week was Education Week, sadly we could not run our usual Open Day concert and classrooms. As an alternative, our dedicated teachers made a video for each class. In the videos our students demonstrated our school Learning Dispositions; creative, team player, risk taker, reflect and resilient. These videos were edited into a stage clip by Heather Munro and Tomi Liddle. Thanks to Tomi and Heather for your hard work! If you missed the notification, the videos are available on the school website. https://mowbray-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/learning-at-our-school/learning-dispositions.html Learning Experiences in Term 3 Each year teaching staff try to book excursions/incursions to support student learning. These experiences often supplement geography, history or science units. Due to COVID restrictions there has been very little opportunity for children to have these one-off educational and enjoyable experiences. It has been very disappointing for both students and staff to have to cancel traditional experiences, such as the overnight camps. This term each grade has a scheduled experience that can go ahead safely, fulfilling the COVID restrictions and Department of Education requirements. I am hoping that this will be another step back towards ‘normal education’ for all our students. Please be assured that we are complying with all Department of Education guidelines, while trying to keep opportunities for students available wherever possible. Kindergarten 2021 enrolment At MPS we are now enrolling for Kindergarten 2021! We have a reduced orientation program (see flyer below) scheduled for Wednesday 21 October and Wednesday 28 October. At this time, the Department of Education has not made a decision whether orientation programs can continue in their traditional form. If the program is unable to go ahead, we will be contacting all parents/carers to inform them of an alternative plan. All parents/carers are strongly encouraged to enrol as soon as possible, with a current email address so they can be contacted with up-to-date planning as soon as it is confirmed.
