When twelve was developed, a lot of thought was spent on how the life of the Board secretariatcan be made easier. Many years of experience in the area of supporting the Board office of aglobal player have helped us to streamline the process of document creation and management.
The platform to create meetings, upload documents and data, manage users and have all thingssearchable is optimized for intuitive use – an obvious requirement when time is short and the latestchanges to the documents and presentations come in late at night before the next Board meeting.

The documents are managed on the leading document management system Microsoft SharePoint,which is most likely already part of your IT landscape.
For the access of the documents and data you need to have either Apple iPads and the twelve appdeployed. Or, you can also use the platform independent twelve web frontend, which can be accessed with a browser on your Mac or PC.

All the data and documents are stored within your company on your own on-premise servers andyour own infrastructure. This gives you total control over the access to the most precious information in your company. Documents will be uploaded to the devices of your Board membersonly if you explicitly grant access.
The entire Microsoft SharePoint environment will be hardened according to the NSA standards to prevent unauthorized access - externally as well as internally.

If your IT strategy doesn’t allow for your own Microsoft SharePoint infrastructure, we are happy toadditionally provide the hosting services for the content in our highly secured and highly available datacenter located in Switzerland. The Board office uploads and manages all content andusers on the remote environment. The Board members access this infrastructure with their iPadapp twelve and/or their regular laptops.
The data will be taken care of as if it was ours. Of course, the same high degree of security measures against unauthorized access will be provided as on the on-premise solution.
Security of the iPad app
The documents are synchronized to the Board members's devices on a need-to-know basis. If acertain Board member is not part of a committee, he will not get the documents on his iPad app. The network traffic of the synchronization is encrypted at all times and cannot be wire-tapped. Thedocuments are stored safely on the iPad device. The database holding all your most critical documents is encrypted with state-of-the-art technology.
To access the content of twelve, the Board member has to enter his password. After five attemptsto guess the password, the content of the database is wiped off securely.

The iPad is protected with two-factor-authentication: each device is equipped with a unique devicecertificate and the Microsoft Active Directory credentials of your Board members.
For the access check as well as for encryption, twelve makes use of a public key infrastructure(PKI) that is either hosted internally or provided by an external party, depending on your existing infrastructure.
The perimeter of your company network is terminated by a web application firewall (WAF) that inspects all traffic into and out of your company. It also examines the access requests of the iPadsand other externally connected computers using the twelve web application.
