ผลการศึกษาโดยสรุป
• Our saving rate is high by international standards• But judging from our own need, we might have to raise
the saving rate at least by 1.8-3.5 percent in the next 5years for growth and stability reasons.
• The most worrisome problem is that low-income earners are not saving enough.
Question 2
Are we saving enough?
• Due to the decline in household savings• This is not b/c of social security program nor aging pop.
but due to consumption boom, esp. in durables.• There were marked reduction of saving across all age
groups at the same time. There were also some structural changes that lead to less precautionary savings.
• Some households would like to save more but cannot.
