Materials: Game board for each student, word cards, unfix cube foreach student to use as a playing piece, 1 die
Teacher Directions: Print a game board on cardstock for eachstudent and laminate. Print cards on card stock, cut out, and
laminate.
Student Directions: Roll the die. The number youroll is the number of cards you must read correctin order to move. If you roll a 4, you must draw
and read 4 cards correctly and then you may moveyour game piece 4 squares on your board.

Building Long ACVCe WordsTeacher Directions: There are 2 options for printing. You can print a
mat for each student, laminate, and have students write on the matwith vis--vis markers. Or you can print a mat for each student andenough letters for each student to have one set. The students canthen cut their letters out.

Drake the Snake, Dale the Ape, and Shane theWhale all lived on State Lane. Every day,they would set out looking for rocks and
jade. Their mother would always tell them to makesure they behaved. They would dress in their best
caps and capes. There were cavesto hunt through, mazes to get lostin, and lakes to dive in.
When Shane the Whale went to wadein the lake, he saw Kate the Fish. Katesaid, Come with me and Ill show you acrate of the best jade. Drake, Dale, and Shane dashed offwith her. Dale was last in line and yelled to his brothers, Wecant be late to lunch or mom will be mad. Drake made aface and said, Come on.
Shane fell on Drakes cape and scraped his knee. Just thenNate the Turtle came by with a rake. He was looking for jade,
too. It became a race. Soon they all reached thecrate at the same time. Inside the crate wasnothing but fake jade! Drake, Dale, Shane, andNate were mad, but Kate was laughing. She said,
You boys make me laugh till I shake.
The boys hung their heads in shame. They gave a wave toNate and walked home. Their mom saved the day because shehad baked a plate of cookies and cake. They hated to let itgo to waste so they ate it all up.
