LONDON GRADUATE FASHION WEEK 2009. This project was a competition to design an exhibition stand for London Graduate Fashion Week 2009 for the Fashion depart- ment at eca. The competition ran for a period of 6 weeks and within this time we met with the fashion students and their tutors regularly to receive feedback on our proposals. From the outset I had decided to design for ease of assembly as well as disassembly due to time constraints and a budget of £1500. The brief stated that the exhibition stand should be easily transportable and assembled within two days. The appeal of my design was its simplicity. The seating and portfo- lio storage were comprised of rented scaffold planks which were returned after the event. This minimized costs, labour and the level of waste usually produced by exhibition stands after their duration. These were ‘bound’ with orange ratchet lashings (the colour of eca’s logo) with ‘eca’ printed onto them. My design would also be reused after GFW and used again once returned to the college to showcase the work of the third year fashion students at the annual ‘Work In Progress exhibition. After the students chose my design I had the responsibility of sourcing all the materials, organizing all the various stages including costing and keeping within the budget. The fabric of my design was built by myself and three fellow students. I also worked with an animation student who produced a stylish ‘Title Sequence’ which was shown throughout the 3 day event. My design was short listed in the top three for ‘The Best Exhibi- tion Stand Design Award 2009’ out of nearly 50 colleges from the UK as well as overseas competing against professional designers. 1:100 Concept Model.

LONDON GRADUATE FASHION WEEK 2009.

This project was a competition to design an exhibition stand for

London Graduate Fashion Week 2009 for the Fashion depart-

ment at eca. The competition ran for a period of 6 weeks and

within this time we met with the fashion students and their

tutors regularly to receive feedback on our proposals.

From the outset I had decided to design for ease of assembly

as well as disassembly due to time constraints and a budget of

£1500. The brief stated that the exhibition stand should be easily

transportable and assembled within two days.

The appeal of my design was its simplicity. The seating and portfo-

lio storage were comprised of rented scaffold planks which were

returned after the event. This minimized costs, labour and the

level of waste usually produced by exhibition stands after their

duration. These were ‘bound’ with orange ratchet lashings

(the colour of eca’s logo) with ‘eca’ printed onto them.

My design would also be reused after GFW and used again once

returned to the college to showcase the work of the third year

fashion students at the annual ‘Work In Progress exhibition.

After the students chose my design I had the responsibility of

sourcing all the materials, organizing all the various stages

including costing and keeping within the budget.

The fabric of my design was built by myself and three fellow

students. I also worked with an animation student who produced

a stylish ‘Title Sequence’ which was shown throughout the 3 day

event.

My design was short listed in the top three for ‘The Best Exhibi-

tion Stand Design Award 2009’ out of nearly 50 colleges from the

UK as well as overseas competing against professional designers.
