There are multiple options available for businesses schools community sites and other locations SAMM intro-duces communities to local food and farms by offering a welcoming farmersrsquo market experience on the go We provide resources to help all people know how to access and use the highest quality local foods all year

Have You Met SAMMSAMM the Seacoast Area Mobile Market the first mobile market program of its kind in New Hampshire is part of a larger Mobile Market consortium that spans New England and is generously funded by the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundationrsquos Healthy Food Fund SAMM will be hitting the road again starting in June 2018

The goal of SAMM is to provide access to local foods in communities within our service region that meet one of a number of criteria for having reducedinconsistent access to fresh local foods In addition to these community stops SAMM also services a small number of employers in our region as an employee benefit program SAMM is also aimed at supporting local agricultural businesses in our region By sourcing product as locally to market stops as possible we hope to incentivize and support small scale agricultural businesses in their growth

SAMM accepts EBTSNAP benefits for purchases and also runs incentive programs that are aimed at helping low-income individuals stretch their dollars at markets and purchase more fresh local and healthy food SAMM accepts SNAP tokens as well as Granite State Market Match fruit and vegetable coupons that SNAP customers may receive at traditional markets Rather than receiving matching coupons for purchases SAMM customers receive a 50 discount on fruits and vegetables

In our annual publication Seacoast Harvest our mis-sion is to provide the information and resources nec-essary for consumers to access sources of local foods all year long in a variety of ways Our online local food guide at wwwseacoastharvestorg provides additional resources and is updated throughout the year

Seacoast Eat Local strives to increase access to locally produced food among SNAPEBT benefit recipients We provide this vital service at all our winter mar-kets and at participating summer markets and farm stands Funding initiatives and partnerships have in-creased the purchasing power of our clientele through matching incentives

Seacoast Eat Local is the organizer of the Winter Farmersrsquo Market Program at Wentworth Green-houses and Exeter High School Our efforts extend the revenue season for local farmers helping to ensure their economic health through the off-season These events create a complete circle of local food availability for consumers proving that local food can be a year-round commitment We pride ourselves on providing a space for farmers and consumers to gather and enjoy one anotherrsquos company

The mission of the Seacoast Area Mobile MarketProgram (SAMM) is to strengthen communities through greater access to local foods for all Seacoast residents By bringing locally produced fresh food products to individuals in their communities at home and at work we seek to eliminate transportation barri-ers and thereby expand access to local food Expanding food access in communities with historically limited access will in turn support the growth and spread of local agricultural efforts and businesses and also further cement awareness of the importance of eating locally across our region
