1. What types of topics are discussed in the magazines and why have they chosen these subjects? Type of subjects discussed on the double page spread VIP page from mixmag is in the form of an interview with the artist himself, this interview varies from talking about Ferry Corsten’s new album and his music, which would be done to promote the artist and the new album, to random question such as ‘when were you last in danger?’ and ‘Have you ever had to take a piss in the DJ booth?’. This would be done to split up some of the serious questions so there was some more entertainment, but also to gain a bit of background information about Ferry Corsten in the Q&A page. Also the type of topics are what the reader will want to know about the artist as well as relating to the genre of the magazine which is dance music. 2. How are the images used? What type of meaning are they trying to connote? Well the single image of the Killers on the written page is used to elaborate that he had remixed one of their songs and that there is a question in the article that relates to that. The other image which would be the big main one of the other page seems quiet spiritual, it could be to show his personality which could be weird and strange as he looks like he is mediating or trying to fly. But he is dressed in all black, in a shirt and expensive trainers, this could be trying to bring across to the reader that he is a cool sort of guy and this would relate to the magazines target audience or even make the reader aspire to be like him. Another thing I can say about the main image is that it relates back to one of the questions which says ‘You spend your life in planes. Any hairy moments. This relates to the main image as his arms are out stretched like he is trying to fly. 3. What colour scheme is used and why? The colour scheme used is very plain and simple; this could be to match the artist’s style of music or even to match the artist’s personality, which he himself is just wearing black brings a kind of cool appeal about him. Also there is one bit of pink text in the article which s the artists name ‘Ferry Corsten’. This would be used to make it stand out so the reader could just skim over it and know whom the article is about. Also being such a simple colour scheme could mean that the text is much more important than everything else so you

Also being such a simple colour scheme could mean that the text is much more important than everything else so you are more likely to read it and take it in as there are no messy distractions all over the page.

4. Who is the target audience for each of the magazines?

People of higher class, which would actually spend £4 on a dance and clubbing magazine. Also the target audience will have money as they can go to these upper class raves and clubs, although they might not have loads of money but choose to spend their disposable income on their passion for dance music and clubbing. These people are most likely in the 20-25 age range and single due to the nature of raves and clubs. They would have a nice job that funds these out goings and also most likely to have a nice sports car and lives in the city centre.
