Truck to Ship bunkering (1/2)

This method is recognised as most suitable where the amount of LNG to be transferred is less

than 200 cubic meters and when the commercial operation of the ship allows a sufficient

duration for bunkering.

Emergency Shut-down (ESD) system

• Required to effectively stops the transfer of LNG (and vapour) between the

receiving ship and the bunkering ship.

• The ESD can be activated automatically or manually.

• The bunkering line is to be designed to withstand the surge pressure that

may result from the activation of the ESD system.

• ESD system is to be activated automatically in case of:• Low pressure in the supply tank

• Sudden pressure drop at the transfer pump discharge

• High pressure in the receiving tank

• LNG or vapour leak detection

• Activation of the emergency release coupling

• Safe working envelope of the loading arm exceeded

SGMF LNG Bunkering guidelines (SGMF + IACS + IAPH)

► A safety zone and a security zone should be established around the bunkering operation in accordance with ISO/TS 18683.

► These zones are in addition to the “IGF code” hazardous area that are required around areas with potential for explosive atmospheres such as the bunkering connections.
