I miss all the team members since the

American exchange tour last summer. I was

excited that I could join the outing with

them in October. We went to different

historic sites. It was a wonderful day.

Also, they visited my home and we cooked

a lot of dishes together. We were very busy,

but we enjoyed it. It is such a good memory.

I feel so sad that they have to leave but I

will always remember every moment.

4C Leung Clement

I want to share the awesome moments I spent

with the Redeemer Team. We went to the

Kowloon Walled City Park. I paired with Gerry.

Gerry and I couldn’t imagine the park was once a

haven of crime and debauchery because it was

such a beautiful place when we went there.

I felt great with the American friends. Tony and

Gerry are humorous and all of them tried to

understand my mediocre English. They are friendly

and I learned more about US culture. I hope to

see them again next year.

4B Yuen Manson

I still remember the day trip with our American

friends. My partner was Tony. My first impression

of him was a serious guy, but later, I found him

very funny. Also, on this trip, I learned what Pastor

Gerry thought about some social issues. I enjoyed

sharing my opinions with him.

I was happy to show them around and to practise

my English speaking with them. I hope they

enjoyed the trip too.

I was glad to see all the Redeemer Team members again. I had met

them before in the summer exchange tour. It was my first time to

invite friends to visit my home. My family and I felt happy about that.

I hope Janet and Sandie enjoyed the dinner we prepared.

Also, we had a BBQ after school. Everybody enjoyed the food and

chatted with each other happily. It was a perfect and awesome night!

I hope we have left the Team with great memories.

2A Leung Lok Hin Scott

I first met our American guests at the welcome

party. At the party, I talked with them about our

hobbies and our family. They were very nice and

friendly because they always wanted to know more

about me.

The second time I met them was during the

Putonghua lesson. My classmates and I taught them

some Putonghua and they tried very hard to learn.

We learnt from each other just like friends.

3M Yting Elisha Bezalel

I was extremely glad to see the Redeemer Team

again! During their last visit, we chatted a lot and

shared our favorite music and hobbies. It is an

unforgettable memory.

On the first day, they stood at the school entrance

and greeted us with a big smile. When I saw them,

all our memories flooded back. Instead of saying ‘hi’,

Gerry and Sara greeted me with ‘hey’ like old

friends. I was, of course, overjoyed.

The team visited my English class. They played

games with us, talked about God’s love and shared

their personal life. We had a great time. Other than

knowing more about God’s love, we had chances to

communicate in English so our English has

improved. I look forward to seeing them next year!

I had a Technology and Living class with the Sending Place

Team. There were three ladies in the team and my group made

dumplings with one of them, Janet. We all enjoyed the lesson.

When I taught Janet how to make dumplings, I found her so

smart. She could make them well although it was her first time

to learn. Janet loved Chinese dumplings. She told me that she

would make dumplings with her family when she returned to

the US. We talked about many things while making the food. I

found out her favourite dessert was fruit pie. I also knew that

she cooked with her grandchildren every holiday.

From them, I have learned we love because God loves us first.

I’m going to miss them all.

3M Leung Hoi Shuen Jo

I had lunch with the team in March. We shared our lunch boxes and

food such as fried chicken wings and Mexican chips with cheese.

At first, I did not talk a lot because I think it is impolite to speak

with my mouth full. After I had finished my dishes, I started to talk

with the ladies about our daily lives. We had fun chatting with each

other and taking photos together.

Actually, I was not very active because I was a little bit shy. However,

I was happy that I could spend time with them and listen to their

stories. Also, it was meaningful to practise English speaking with

native speakers.

I had lunch with the American visitors in Tsuen

Wan. My partner was Sharon. Actually, she was

very active and always talked with me on the

minibus. However, I am a shy and passive girl.

Sharon was very nice and she didn’t mind I was

quiet sometimes. I thought she was so friendly.

We ordered red rice and steamed vegetable

dumplings. I discovered that Sharon liked

vegetables very much, which is the same as

me! I told her about this and she told me that

she always made vegetable salad at home. So,

we had our lunch comfortably.

After lunch, they played the piano in a music

center. The tune they chose was ‘Chopsticks’. I

thought they had great talent in music. Because

of their attractive melody, I tried to play a song

‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ too. I felt happy

when they clapped.

To sum up, the three ladies were out-going and

caring. It was an impressive experience to get

along with them. I hope they will come to

Hong Kong again soon.

4A Ting Wing Hong Wilson

The Sending Place Team and I went on a day tour

on 15 March. First, we went to Man Tin Cheung

Park. I introduced the brave General to the team.

Next, we went to Min Mo Bridge. The bridge was

narrow and dangerous. We were afraid of falling

down. We also saw some air-breathing catfish and

yellow ducks. They were amazing.

Then, we had lunch at a seafood restaurant. The

team liked the Chinese food, for example, sweet

and sour ribs, and steamed abalone. After that, we

went to the Red House commemorating Dr. Sun

Yat-sen. I could see the Flag of the Republic of

China there.

On their last day, we ate at a Chinese restaurant. I

learnt more about American culture after talking

with the three ladies. It was useful because I will

join the USA exchange tour in the coming summer.

If I could meet the team again next year, I would

take them to the Peak because it is a famous

tourist spot in Hong Kong. We could take the Peak

Tram and enjoy the night view of Hong Kong. I

hope this wish can come true.

In March, three American friends, Barbara, Janet and Sharon, came to our school in order to share the

Good News with us. I was lucky to be selected as an International Interface Ambassador to receive them.

I had lunch with the guests in Magic World (Room 117). We enjoyed the Crossing-the-bridge noodles and

sweet potato noodles – two special kinds of traditional Chinese noodles. At first, I was afraid that they

would not get used to the food. Contrary to my expectation, all of them liked the noodles! Despite the

spiciness, they enjoyed them a lot.

The three ladies are easy-going and they always smile. Although there was a language barrier between us,

they still tried their very best to understand and communicate with me in a friendly way. Furthermore,

Barbara showed her family photos to me and introduced them one by one. There were many funny

stories. Apart from that, they asked me if I was facing any difficulties and even prayed for me. That was

really kind and nice of them to care about my friendship, my studies and even my life.

I appreciate the team a lot since they always spread positive energy and love to everyone they

encountered. Although the lunch only lasted for an hour, it was a memorable experience for me. The most

important thing I have learnt is to be a sincere person who cares about the others. Because of Jesus, love

is all around the world!

1B Lam Kin Lok, Chan Hoi Ying Heidi, He Yee Fan Abby, Tang Yi Ching Candy

The American visitors are friendly. We enjoyed talking with them. They shared the photos of their families

with us. Barbara’s baby grandchild is very cute. Janet’s sons are handsome. Sharon’s grandchildren look

energetic. We also talked about Hong Kong food such as fish balls, egg puffs and milk tea. We love the

American friends very much!

The V-Power Scheme was held during lunch recess at

the covered playground. Form 1 and Form 2 students

read aloud English words to our principal, vice-

principals, as well as our NET Mr. Ken and GEO Ms. Judy.

If they read the words correctly, they could get

chocolate and stamps in the English Passport. I was a V-

Power Ambassador and my duties were to chop the

stamps and teach the students how to read the words.

I think the scheme is meaningful because it can

encourage students to read English vocabulary more. It

can also raise our interest in learning English outside the

classroom. When I saw the junior students join the

activity so enthusiastically, I was inspired to improve my

English so that I can teach them better and talk with Mr.

Ken more fluently!

2A Wong Hoi Fung Starbo

I think the V-Power Scheme can improve my English speaking. I had to read the words correctly in order

to get stamps in my English Passport to redeem prizes. The principal, vice-principals, teachers and student

ambassadors all listened to me patiently. I’m so grateful to them. I hope I can join this activity again.

The Principal and vice-principal were teaching students English vocabulary patiently.

Our class held a game stall in December. We had a

great time. Our game was to match some words about

travelling. The biggest problem was to explain the

game rules to the schoolmates.

In the end, our English teacher, Ms. Cheng, said she was

glad that we had done a good job. I think we all shared

the sense of success.

It was our first time to join the Fiesta. We were the MC and

we had to sing in front of many people. We were very

nervous. We hope to be more confident next time.

4B Kong Kei Yin Ross Daniele

My class performed the song ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ for the

Fiesta. I had been searching for the saxophone score for

many days. It was very difficult. My classmates Manson and

Rebecca played the guitar and the piano. Although we only

practiced for one day, it was lucky that the performance still

ran smoothly.

I felt proud because the audience watched my saxophone

performance attentively. I thought my class was very united

because when we encountered difficulties during practice; we

overcame them together.

From this experience, I have learnt how to cooperate with

my classmates no matter how hard the practice was. What’s

more, I have learnt some English vocabulary and their

correct pronunciations from the song.

5B Chen Xiaowen Christine

My class held an English radio drama competition at

Magic World. William, Hazel and I formed a group and

performed a story called Return or Not. The script was

not very complicated or lengthy, so we decided to

memorize the lines to perform more naturally.

Although we rehearsed many times, I was still a bit

nervous so my mind went totally blank at first.

Fortunately, I didn’t make big mistakes since I calmed

down promptly and recalled the lines later.

The performance was successful and highly commended

by the teachers, which was beyond our expectations.

Hearing that our group was the champion, we were very

surprised and delighted. Not only have I learnt English

from the activity, but I also got great pleasure and a sense

of satisfaction.

I became a DJ with Koey and Jo to play English songs and read the dedication messages written by our

schoolmates. We promoted the activity in morning assembly so that students would pay attention to our

broadcast during lunch. Also, we practised the script again and again as we hoped everything could go smoothly.

At about 12:40p.m., we started to read the dedication messages. I was very surprised and happy that my

classmate Elisha wrote a message to me and other friends. Nobody had dedicated songs to me before and she

was the first one!

I think our performance was satisfactory because it was our first time to be DJs. However, in the morning

assembly, I always looked at the script. I should have been more courageous to make eye-contact with the

audience. Furthermore, during the dedication, I should have read more slowly so that students could listen to

my words more clearly.

To sum up, I would like to be DJ again because it is a good opportunity to sharpen my English speaking. I believe

that when I work in the future, I will probably have to speak in front of many people too.

3M Shabnam Kausar Julie

Angie, Farah, Haleema and I have taken part in a worthwhile

English activity. We were the DJs for the English Song

Dedication at lunchtime. Although it wasn’t my first time to

be a DJ, I still felt excited.

We took a deep breath and started our dedication. We

read out the messages and our lines with full confidence

and tried not to make any mistakes. When the songs were

playing, we even followed the lyrics and sang along together.

I really enjoyed this activity. It gave me a chance to share my

favourite songs with my schoolmates.

Paddington is a movie full of love and imagination. It

talks about a bear, Paddington, who went to London

to find a home. Mrs. Brown met him at the station and

decided to take him home. Then, a woman wanted to

catch Paddington to make a specimen in the museum.

In the end, the Browns saved Paddington and they

lived together blissfully.

After watching the film, I think humans can get along

with animals very well. We shouldn’t mistreat or

slaughter animals because they are lovely. Also, the

Browns make me feel that I’m so lucky to live in a

harmonious world where people are compassionate.

4B Yu Bingting Jennifer

Paddington is a very amusing and heart-warming movie. It talks about

Paddington who traveled from Peru to London to find a home. Mr Brown

didn’t want to help the bear at first but later, when Paddington was in danger,

he saved him without hesitation.

Paddington made an enormous difference to the Brown family. Their family

relationship improved. In the movie, Paddington did many funny things such as

flooding the bathroom and getting himself caught in tape. These made me

laugh a lot. On the whole, it is a movie worth watching.

4B Ng Pui Yee Anna

When I first saw the poster of the movie The

Secret Life of Walter Mitty, I didn’t think the movie

would be very attractive. However, after

watching it, I found the story very meaningful.

The movie talks about a negative assets manager,

Mitty, who worked at a magazine office. His

colleague sent him a negative for the next issue.

Unluckily, it was lost. Another unlucky thing was

Mitty had to be fired. However, he still started his

journey to find the negative.

I think this movie encourages us to work hard

for our dreams. I appreciate Mitty because he

became brave in the end.
