We all see opportunities come and go as we pass through life. Be mindful of the ones that can benefit not only your family but also others along the way.

There are days when I think “what if.” My big “what if” is how much of an impact The AIM Companies’ products can have on the health of the world population and how they can greatly reduce the ongoing health care issues we face today. As John F. Kennedy once said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” AIM products and their

power can do so much for your country ... and the world.

We hear daily about astonishing health turnarounds from AIM Members, and our AIM staff gives a cheer. This further confirms our belief and mission that whole-food nutrition is not only a miracle from above but the substance of what man was designed to thrive on.

This knowledge is priceless and must be shared to keep our world in balance. If we neglect this opportunity, we are only shortchanging our own future and our responsibility to our fellow man. Be proactive, make a difference in this

world, save a life, extend a life. Sharing and caring is the least we can do for each other.

Blessings,

Greg Wright AIM Chief Operating Officer

Main Feature

We all want to feel our best each and every day.

To get there, we must choose daily to consume essential, plant-based nutrition and maintain a clean body system. AIM helps make this possible with the world’s best natural health products, the newest of which fits perfectly within a living well lifestyle.

New AIM fit ‘n fiber® apple-cinnamon is an everyday fiber for safe, effective, consistent results. Featuring a pair of complementary fiber ingredients—psyllium and oat—fit ‘n fiber can help keep you regular, stem your appetite, and encourage a healthy weight.

The name may be familiar, but the product itself is brand new. Everything about fit ‘n fiber has changed. The weight management product, available for the past five years in the U.S., now does so much more. New fit ‘n fiber apple-cinnamon can:

• Promote healthy digestion and maintenance of a well-functioning colon

• Relieve constipation

• Provide everyday fiber for maintenance, containing little to no stimulant laxative properties

• Aid in satiety and assist with weight management

The newest fiber from AIM is designed to fit into your living well lifestyle. The gentle fiber effects of fit ‘n fiber are recommended for safe, everyday use. The unique blend of natural ingredients supports daily maintenance of a healthy digestive system. And the touch of apple and cinnamon makes fit ‘n fiber ideal for smoothies alongside AIM CoCoa LeafGreens™, AIM ProPeas™, and many other AIM powder concentrates.

Behind-the-scenes with AIM’s new everyday fiber

fit ‘n fiber’s daily, consistent use is made possible with a masterful blend of fiber ingredients, a blend that has been refined and tested for the past twenty years. fit ‘n fiber provides 7 grams of natural fiber per serving, mainly from psyllium and oat.

PsylliumNatural, bulk-forming psyllium has positive

effects on regularity, constipation, diarrhea, and even more serious concerns. Once inside the intestines, psyllium swells as it comes in contact with water, forming a bulky stool that is easy to pass and helping the body more easily rid itself of waste. The bulk created by this soluble fiber helps clear the intestines on its way out of the body.

with apple-cinnamonfit ’n fiberNew

Page 5: Living Well - September 2013

September 2013 5

Multiple studies have found that psyllium helps reduce constipation, lower cholesterol, and limit digestive issues. A study published in the British Medical Journal found that psyllium produced a 90-point reduction in the severity of symptoms for irritable bowel syndrome sufferers compared with the placebo group.

OatAlong with psyllium’s soluble fiber, oat

contributes insoluble fiber to the new fit ‘n fiber. Derived from the outermost layer of the grain, oat fiber aids in regularity by passing directly through the digestive system, undigested. Its insoluble properties allow it to clean out the colon as it exits, helping to maintain regularity and ward off constipation. Since it goes undigested, oat has virtually no caloric effect on the body.

Above and beyond the fiber headliners, fit ‘n fiber contains several other notable ingredients including aloe vera, organic apple, and cinnamon.

The aloe plant, traditionally used as a soothing skin treatment, can also aid the digestive system through detoxification and cleansing. Aloe supplements flush food residue from the diges-tive tract and unclog the digestive system. Aloe also works as an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent, helping the body ward off disease.

Apples, as one of the most fiber-rich natural foods, can initiate feelings of satiety in the stomach, helping to reduce consumption and assist with weight management.

Cinnamon, well-known as a spice in baking and cooking, has gained a reputation as a valuable natural health supplement for its positive effect on heart health. Therapeutic

doses of cinnamon may help lower cholesterol, regulate blood sugar, and aid digestion.

The fit ‘n fiber formula also provides gentian root, alder buckthorn, and red beetroot.

Fiber and a healthy weightAs an everyday fiber, fit ‘n fiber apple-

cinnamon works daily to help maintain a healthy digestive system and a healthy body. One notable effect is how fiber assists with weight management.

Dietary fiber, like the 14 grams found in the daily recommended servings of fit ‘n fiber, reduces insulin secretion in the body by slowing the rate of nutrient absorption following a meal. In this way, you feel fuller longer, your insulin levels are well regulated, and your food digests properly. With high-fiber diets, insulin sensitivity increases and, as a result, body weight decreases. A ten-year study published in the Journal of American Medical Association confirmed this effect. Those who consumed nine grams or more of fiber per day lost a substantial amount of weight—in some cases as much as nine pounds more—compared to those who consumed less fiber.

Make health your habit with everyday fit ‘n fiber

An effective everyday fiber must work consistently, safely, and comfortably. AIM has ensured that fit ‘n fiber fits the bill by choosing only the highest-quality, fiber-rich ingredients. fit ‘n fiber mixes well into smoothies and on its own in water or a favorite beverage. It produces no bloating or gas.

In short, new fit ‘n fiber apple-cinnamon is the everyday fiber we need to feel our best each and

every day.

Be among the first to try this new product when it launches in October (call for availability). Work fit ‘n fiber into your daily routine on a cycle with herbal Fiberblend® or as a supplement to your Garden Trio® and other AIM powders and capsules.

And enjoy the rewarding feeling of a healthy digestive system.

It isn’t really possible to improve upon what nature provides nutritionally and medicinally. Nature does it best, especially when it comes to young barley plants and the rich, nutritional diversity of AIM BarleyLife®.

harvested before turning to grain, barley grass may surpass all other green plants in concentrated levels of nutrients. For consumer concerns regarding food safety, AIM ensures that our crops of young barley plants undergo rigorous testing to ensure a toxin-free source of natural nutrition. This high-quality juice powder makes all the difference in the world in terms of absorbability and usability for the human body.

Unlike synthetic multi-vitamins and minerals made in a laboratory, the body easily absorbs BarleyLife’s natural vitamins—A, B1 (Thiamin), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folate), B12, C, E, and K—and rich mineral content, including alkalinizing calcium, magnesium, and

potassium. These minerals maintain a healthy body ph by neutralizing acidifying elements.

Each 4-gram serving of BarleyLife contains greater than 19 mg of chlorophyll—

the green lifeblood of plants. It is believed to have many health benefits for people, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties.

BarleyLife also contributes a wide variety of enzymes that are essential for good health. Enzymes are proteins that speed up the body’s many chemical reactions, such as food digestion, nutrient absorption, and energy production.

Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is an enzyme found in BarleyLife that also acts as a super-protective antioxidant, deactivating highly

reactive superoxide free radicals before they can cause any cellular damage. AIM uses cutting-edge SORAC (Superoxide Radical Scavenging Capacity) testing to identify 916 umole TE/serving of

SOD activity in BarleyLife.

In fact, BarleyLife provides a wide variety of antioxidants that neutralizes free radicals throughout the body.

The complete list of nutrients in young barley plants is a long one, and there are more yet to be discovered in this gift from nature. By giving your body the concentrated assortment of natural nutrients in BarleyLife, you follow the advice of the ancient, Greek physician, hippocrates, who stated, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Testimonials should not be construed as representing results everybody can achieve.

“It took me a while to get pregnant, but Ken and I were overjoyed when it happened. During that time I was taking my BarleyLife faithfully and continued to take it every day while I was pregnant. however, there was a period of a couple of weeks when I was waiting for it to be delivered because I had run out. I really noticed the difference in my energy levels, so I was happy when my BarleyLife arrived.

“My pregnancy was going well, but due to some medical issues beyond our control, Liam arrived twelve weeks early on March 19, 2013. We were taken completely by surprise and totally unprepared for what lay ahead of us.

“Liam weighed two pounds, six ounces at birth. he was hospitalized for the twelve weeks until he was ‘term’. During those weeks, Liam was fed my breast milk through a tube. Because I couldn’t naturally breastfeed him, I needed to create a false demand by pumping every two hours for the first couple of weeks—about ten times a day—and then managed to scale back to every three hours, which was eight times a day. The process was very tiring because on top of the pumping, we needed to see Liam in the hospital every day. I think taking my BarleyLife helped with my energy and also the quality of my milk.

“Liam progressed very well during his stay at the hospital. The doctors and nurses were amazed at how well and rapidly he improved and gained weight over the weeks. They said that it was mainly due to my milk being rich and nutritious. Some of the nurses had said that it would be easier if I let Liam go onto formula, but I was adamant that I wanted to give Liam the best start that he could get from me.

“Liam has been home now for four weeks, and he is fed exclusively with my breast milk. he now weighs eight pounds, eleven ounces, and continues to grow and amaze us every day.

“I continue taking my BarleyLife every day, and I know it makes a difference for both Liam and me.”

During the summer, getting adequate vitamin D is easier than at any other time of the year. When winter hits? you better be prepared.

Less than one-quarter of the North American population gets adequate amounts of vitamin D, a problem that compounds when the sun runs away and hides during winter months. In fact, experts say that getting vitamin D from the sun during winter months is impossible if you live anywhere north of Atlanta, Georgia. Alternate sources of vitamin D are limited, too. Few foods (fatty fish and fortified milk, most notably) contain the sunshine vitamin, Consuming large portions of these foods on a regular basis is difficult, considering how much is required in order to maintain adequate amounts of D.

To ensure you get enough vitamin D during winter, you may need to go above and beyond the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA)—600 International Units (IUs) for people under seventy years of age and 800 IUs for people over age eighty. These amounts are for maintaining an adequate level of vitamin D. however, 77 percent of North Americans are vitamin D deficient. Proposed recommended daily intakes for adults aged 19 to 70 years is now 1,500 to 2,000 IUs.

With a standard 1,000 IUs per two servings of powder or two-capsule (US) serving, AIM Veggie D™ not only meets the vitamin D requirements for a deficient population, but it does so in a wholesome, healthy, and effective way. AIM Veggie D derives its vitamin D from shiitake and button mushrooms, cutting-edge ingredients for robust vitamin D.

Recent research supports this vegetable source of vitamin D as being as effective as traditional vitamin D supplements. A study from Boston University School of Medicine, which tested its participants for twelve weeks during winter, found that blood plasma levels of vitamin D were consistently raised regardless of whether participants received a vitamin

D3 supplement, vitamin D2 supplement, or mushroom powder.

The senior author of the study, Dr. Michael holick, concluded that the vitamin D status of healthy adults can be improved by the ingestion of mushrooms exposed to ultraviolet light, which enriches them with vitamin D2. This is the exact process and makeup of the mushroom ingredients in Veggie D.

As this recent study speaks to the effectiveness of vegetable vitamin D, other studies continue to sing the praises of vitamin D’s positive effect on health. Within the past six months, studies have been published regarding vitamin D’s effect on blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, asthma, bone health, and energy, not to mention its benefits for mood and immunity.

With winter on the horizon, make sure you have your vitamin D needs covered. In capsules (US) or powder, Veggie D makes for an ideal vegetarian vitamin D supplement

to put a little sunshine back into your life.

Protein is a vital part of every cell in your body. It is a required building block of blood, bones, cartilage, muscles, and skin, and necessary for repairing tissues, so it is called a macronutrient—a type of food you require in large amounts. Even your hair and nails are primarily made of protein.

Since your body cannot store protein, how much do you need daily? The acceptable macronutrient distribution range (AMDR) suggests 10 to 35 percent of your daily calories should come from protein. In a 2,000 calorie diet, this equates to between 50 and 175 grams of protein daily.

The most common source is meat, but it may not be your healthiest choice, given that meat has an acidifying effect on your body. Different types of food produce either an acidic or alkaline ash after being digested and metabolized. AIM ProPeas™ provides a healthy, alkalinizing alternative to improve your daily protein intake with a vegetable source from field peas.

To build or maintain healthy muscles, ProPeas can help with a low-fat, low-sugar, lean protein. Each level-scoop serving contains 12 grams of protein that you can add to a delicious smoothie with your ingredients of preference. Many people

make their ProPeas protein shake using rice milk for a smooth and tasty texture.

With ProPeas, you can turn a snack into a healthy source of protein. Gordon Carr, an AIM Member in Kincardine, Ontario, makes ProPeas a daily treat to supplement his protein intake:

“I don’t eat much meat, so I have to find alternatives,” explained Gordon. “I was really interested when I first read about a protein pea supplement from AIM, especially regarding a recipe for chocolate protein balls. I make them every week, using shelled hemp seeds instead of coconut. I usually eat three or four a day, taking them to work for a snack. If I have them for breakfast, I don’t get hungry until noon. I also make a granola bar recipe once a month. It’s a tasty way to make sure I get enough protein in my diet.”

Others make ProPeas a part of their weight management goals by using a nourishing protein smoothie as a meal replacement. Pea protein has the potential to control weight in three ways:

1. Stimulates a feeling of fullness because it is slowly digested

2. Increases your metabolic rate to help burn calories

3. Helps to maintain lean muscle mass

Whatever the individual reason for choosing ProPeas, the bottom line is that anyone can supplement their protein intake with this healthy alternative from AIM.

The symptoms of not getting enough magnesium can include insomnia, muscle cramps, tingling, a lack of strength, and a chronic lack of energy. Far more serious, the risks of magnesium deficiency are a lack of protection against life-threatening conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, stroke, and heart disease.

With the likelihood of such possibly fatal disorders, why are 80 percent of Americans lacking in their daily requirement of this life-saving mineral? Along with diets that do not include enough fruit and vegetables, which are a natural source of this essential mineral, modern crops of produce are often grown in magnesium-depleted soil. To prevent the risks of a deficiency,

supplemental magnesium is easily available in topical applications of AIM Mag-nificence™

crystals, gel, and spray.

For supplemental calcium, you want the most effective product available. That’s why your best choice is CalciAIM™—the most absorbable form of calcium because it comes in a powder, not a tablet or capsule.

Unlike most calcium supplements, CalciAIM is easily absorbed since the powder dissolves in water, as though pre-digested for your body. Tablets and capsules need to be digested and broken down with 70 to 80 percent of the calcium being wasted through elimination by the body. however, CalciAIM gives you 98 percent absorbable calcium because it is solubilized in a beverage along with magnesium, L-lysine, vitamin C, zinc, copper, and vitamin D2. These supporting nutrients assist the absorption of this vital mineral and help maintain sufficient levels in bones and tissues.

How much calcium is enough?

The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for healthy adults from ages nineteen to fifty is 1,000 mg a day. When taking CalciAIM, absorption is highest in small amounts of less than 500 mg at a time with food. One serving of CalciAIM provides around 400 mg of calcium.

Why do you need calcium?

Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. Most people think of it in regard to strong bones and teeth. Getting enough calcium throughout your lifetime is vital for maintaining bone mass and a healthy smile ... and for so much more.

Calcium supports weight management by being a component in the fat burning process. Since it is an alkaline-forming mineral, calcium helps maintain the ph balance of the blood. It also is essential for blood clotting, as well

as nerve and muscle function. your heart is the hardest working muscle in your body, so it requires sufficient amounts of calcium to function optimally and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and hypertension.

This mineral is also a key factor in maintaining hormonal balance. For women, a calcium deficiency can trigger PMS symptoms.

Getting back to the bones that keep you standing straight, a lack of calcium leads to the onset of osteoporosis, the deterioration of bone tissue and loss of bone mass.

No one can afford to be calcium deficient, so ensure that you get enough by taking CalciAIM.
