North Bangalore is rapidly becoming the city’s new epicenter with the impetus provided by KIA (Kempegowda International Airport). The second phase of expansion of the airport will result in the ability to handle 55 million passengers annually.
A host of projects, both public and private are being developed in the region around the airport.
To ensure seamless connectivity, the govern-ment has undertaken infrastructure develop-ment in the form of flyovers, underpasses and a metro rail link. Additionally, North Banga-lore will benefit from the planned peripheral ring road.
North Bangalore is becoming premium educational hub with VTU (parent body controlling most of the Engineering Colleges in Karnataka) building Vishweshwaraya Institute of Advanced Technology (VIAT) University on a 200 - acre campus with ` 600 crores of investment. VIAT Phase I is already operational with over a 1000 students pursuing Ph.D. and Post-graduations. The development of Phase II is in full swing and will include a Centre of Excellence set up by Dassault Systemes and has also affiliated with world-class companies.
Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSIHL) ranks amongst the top 10 universities re-accredited by NAAC under the new methodology. SJCIT Univer-sity college, Nagarjuna Engineering College, KV College of Pharmacy etc. are prominent educational institutions.
