NEW UPDATES RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Classes will begin during the first week of November. ALL classes will take place online the children will gather MONTHLY in the church (with social distancing). Special meetings for parents will take place in October. Given the crisis of the virus we will ask only $30 to pay for the book and technology material this year for the entire program. To enroll, families must be registered parishioners (since June 2020) and commit to attending a mass on Sunday or during the week as a family. If you are not a registered parishioner you will need to register AND to live in Elmhurst. At this time we are not able to take children from outside the parish.

NUEVAS ACTUALIZACIONES EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA Las clases comenzarán durante la primera semana de Noviembre. ALL SOULS DAY On Monday, November 2 we will remember all our beloved dead. At these masses we will announce the names of our parishioners buried from the parish since last November 2. All Souls envelopes are now available at the entrance of the churches. You are invited to take one and write names of those who have died and would like to pray for them. Please the envelope in any of the collections next week. These envelopes will be placed on our altars November 2 and remain until the end of the month. ELECTION DAY 2020 Early voting in New York State will begin this Sunday. If you have not applied for an absentee ballot- now is the time to vote! Voting begin October 24 and ends Sunday Nov.1st. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. All indications show that this may be the largest voter turn out in many years. Take your civic responsibility seriously- vote! ROSARY SOCIETY We had a wonderful gathering with our Rosarians last week. It was safe, socially distant and fun! It was good to meet and share with others again. We are planning future prayer filled and social gatherings. Thanks for all who attended. MASS BOOK 2021 The mass book is now open for 2021! EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Every Thursday after the 11:15 am UNTIL the 6:30 pm masses. Exposition will begin after 11:15am with concluding benediction at 6 pm. Please join us in prayer! NOVENA OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL The Novena prayers to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal will be prayed every Monday immediately following the 11:15 am English mass. Please join us! WEDDINGS At this time, you need to live in the parish and be registered as a parishioner. For those who are able we urgently need your generosity. GIVECENTRAL is the safest and easiest way to give to your parish. Please consider signing up today! Also, you can mail in your Sunday envelopes to the parish office or deposit them during the collection at mass.
Dear Friends,
Allow me to highlight – again- some important announcements:
1- Upon entering the church everyone must sanitize their hands and wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth. Masks must be kept on at all times.
2- When receiving holy communion: please remain standing in your place. The minister will bring the Eucharist to you. The minister says: The body of Christ. You respond Amen. Then, immediately lower your mask and place the consecrat-ed host in your mouth. Holy communion is distributed only in the hand. Those who insist to receive on the tongue should wait for the priest after mass.
3- After mass please leave the church and do not congregate outside the church. Social distancing must continue inside and outside.
4- Remember after each mass we close the church and spray the entire area with a special sanitizer so that it is safe and clean for the next mass.
We take your health and safety seriously! We have over 50 volunteers dedicating many hours on the weekend to make sure everyone is safe, and the churches are clean. If for any reason you do not want or can not wear a mask while in church – you need to remain at home and participate with us virtually. The health and safety of everyone is so important and we have been successful here at St Barts!
Finally, I also remind you that we follow these rules for your safety but also these are the rules of the diocese and the law of the city and state! We can incur fines of up to $15,000 for not enforcing these rules. Please be patient and kind.

You are encouraged to watch the mass from your home. I do encourage you to do your best to attend mass once per week. Pick a day of the week and attend with your family.

DÍA DE LAS ALMAS El lunes 2 de noviembre recordaremos a todos nuestros queridos muertos. En estas misas anunciaremos los nom-bres de nuestros feligreses enterrados de la parroquia desde el pasado 2 de noviembre. Los sobres de All Souls ya están disponibles en la entrada de las iglesias. Se le invita a tomar uno y escribir los nombres de aquellos que han muerto y le gustaría orar por ellos. Favor el sobre en cualquiera de las colec-ciones de la próxima semana. Our parish does not have the financial capacity to help every family living in Elmhurst to purchase food. If we could we would but we cannot. At this time we are assisting our registered and active parishioners. Please email us: your name, registration number (found on your parish envelopes) your address and phone. We can provide you with food vouchers to a local supermarket. Since the end of March we have given almost $16,000 in food vouchers to our registered parishioners. We hope to continue to assist! Would you like to donate?

NEED A LETTER FROM YOUR CHURCH? In order to give letters of recommendation, letters attesting to character, sponsor certificates, and other documents that may have legal or religious purposes, it is required that persons requesting those documents be registered and be active members of Saint Bartholomew Parish at least three months prior to your request. We can not provide any of these documents to people not registered in the parish.
