At Easterseals, good actions taken by our volunteers, donors and staff allow us to make a positive difference in the lives of the thousands of people we serve each year. In 2017, we served more than 31,000 individuals with disabilities and their families through both direct and indirect services.

We could not meet the pressing needs in the community without you! Rest assured your philanthropic dollars are well invested at Easterseals! In 2017, more than 94% of our revenue went directly to support the services for the individuals we serve. Here are some highlights of the year that your support made possible: • Easterseals Camp Fairlee served a record 1,024 campers – a 21% increase over last year, after the completion of a major expansion and modernization project. CAMPaign Fairlee raised more than $4.5 million, making this expansion possible and turning Camp Fairlee into a year-round camp for respite and recreational activities.

• Volleyball Ambassador, Journey, and her family warmed our hearts (and legislators’ hearts, too!) and helped Easterseals raise more than $320,000 at the 2017 Easterseals / CAI Volleyball Challenge. (Pictured on right.)

• Our Memory Care program in Sussex County grew to help meet the needs of families who are caring for loved ones with dementia and early onset Alzheimer’s.

• Our Children’s Therapy Services grew by 10%, as we served more than 2,100 individuals.

• Teyanna Bailey, (pictured on opposite page, top) who works in the day program for adults with intellectual disabilities (IDS) in Georgetown, was selected as one of the top five Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Delaware for her leadership in supporting people with disabilities.

• Our annual Walk With Me Delmarva continued to flourish, raising more than $51,000! (Pictured on right.)

• A record number of volunteers shared their time with Easterseals - 1,187 people contributed 16,118 hours of service!

• We honored longtime board member and treasured volunteer, John Riley, at our Annual Dinner with the Drex Jones Volunteer Award. (Pictured below.)

2017 brought some troubling challenges, as well. We stretched to serve more children and adults with disabilities, but federal and state funding continued to lag behind – creating a gap in funding to cover the cost of providing care. While these challenges remain ahead in 2018, we are heartened by your steadfast support.

Your willingness to partner with us helps assure that Easterseals can continue to be a vital resource for people living with disabilities, seniors, caregivers and families.

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore touched the lives of more than 31,000 people with disabilities and their families in FY17 through direct and indirect services. Direct services included:

• 620 adults with intellectual disabilities who participated in community-based services at Easterseals, including those in Supported Employment and Pre-Vocational programs.

• 1,724 adults with disabilities and/or conditions of aging who relied on Easterseals for Personal Attendant or In-Home Services to help with activities of daily living, allowing them to remain living independently in their community.

• 184 adults with disabilities who were provided a safe and supportive place to come each day while their loved ones went to work or attended to other needs through our Adult Day Care services.

• 1,024 children and adults who benefited from recreation and respite at Camp Fairlee, including special camp sessions for children with autism and travel trips.

• 2,136 children and adults with a variety of disabilities who received the services of our highly qualified therapists.

• 248 individuals who benefited from assistive technology services at Easterseals.

• 1,181 individuals were served through our Community Outreach Program, including our Resource and Technology Demonstration Center, assistive technology low interest loan program, the Caregiver Resource Center, and the Money Management program.

In addition, Easterseals indirect services benefited 23,900 individuals with disabilities

and their families through Easterseals outreach activities such as education and

training, information and referral services, and disability education awareness.

For more than 60 years, Easterseals Camp Fairlee has been

transforming the lives of thousands of individuals and

has been a lifeline for many families caring for loved

ones with disabilities by offering recreation and

respite care in the Delaware and Maryland region.

Three years ago, a campaign was launched to raise

$4.5 Million to expand and modernize Camp Fairlee.

The project included the construction of a new activity

center, health center/infirmary, four residential cabins, the

expansion of the dining hall, and upgrades to the roads and paths.

We are excited to report that the campaign goal HAS BEEN MET AND EXCEEDED

- $4,571,596 - and Camp Fairlee hosted a RECORD NUMBER OF CAMPERS this

summer!

Capacity has been increased for the summer camp

season. More weekend respites can be added in

the fall and winter months in the

climate-controlled cabins, and more

families can enjoy peace of mind.
