Little League Baseball The Challenger Division Ages 5 to 21
In Oswego, thanks to the Challenger Division, all youths are given a chance to play regardless of limitations. This division, now in its tenth year, was created for all stu-dents age 5 to 21 who needed more support and modified rules to make this a challeng-ing but not a discouraging experience. The players range from those who need minimal help to those who are paired with a “buddy” who might act as a guide, assist with catching the ball, or push the wheelchair of a player who has a mobility impairment. A game consists of three innings and everyone gets a chance to bat. Players learn sportsmanship and team play as well as fair play. All games will be played Friday eve-nings at 6 p.m. in June and July on the accessible Lagoe Field at Fort Ontario Baseball Complex. In August, all Challenger League teams in Onondaga and Oswego County will play a final game at Alliance Bank Stadium. There will also be a game and picnic for all Lit-tle League teams inside Fort Ontario. T-shirts and hats will be provided for all players. If you have any questions regarding the Challenger Division, please contact Sabine Ingerson at 342-4088 (day) or 342-7853 (evening).
2007 Registration for the Challenger Division There will be a Registration Spaghetti Dinner at the Oswego Elks Club from 5 to 9 p.m. on February 27th. Additional registration days are February 28th and March 1st at the McCrobie building 41 Lake Street, near Breitbeck Park from 5 to 8 pm. New players are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate at registration. Cost is $30.00 per player.
Please make this a priority as late registrations will not be
accepted. You may drop the completed registration forms
at the Oswego ARISE office.
You may also contact your Medicaid Service Coordinator
