Candidate #1:• This candidate currently holds a position as an elected

official in their municipal government. He was born and

raised in Calgary, but has travelled the world extensively.

This candidate has earned two degrees including a

Bachelor of Commerce and a Masters in Public Policy.

• Before he began his term in public office, this candidate

was a business professor at a local university as well as a

trusted business advisor. His passion is “making cities

work better”. While in office, his leadership skills allowed

many positive changes within his municipality. This

candidiate is responsible for building better communities,

keeping his citizens moving and participating as well as

focusing the government on improving the lives of

citizens.

Naheed Nenshi

Candidate #2:This candidate was raised in a single parent home. A lover of music, he learned to

play a variety of instruments and began song writing at a young age. He was

discovered online, and has spent several years developing his talent. With an

impressive resume, this candidate’s most noted achievements include securing a

record deal and releasing a single that went certified platinum shortly after its release.

Though this candidate has had a successful music career, a number of public incidents have made the news for his behavior. DNA testing, threats to his neighbor, reckless driving, making inappropriate comments while visiting the Anne Frank museum, public urination and arrests for suspicion of drag racing and driving under the influence.

Justin Beiber

Candidate #3:• This candidate was elected as the

councilman for his local ward in 2000.

Despite ongoing incidents, this candidate

was elected mayor of his municipality in

2010. Reports surfaced in 2013 that he

had been secretly recorded doing drugs.

While the recording was never released

publicly, the scandal, among others,

eventually led to him taking a leave of

absence in 2014. He completed a 2-

month drug treatment program before

leaving and vowed to return to politics.

Rob Ford

Candidate #5:• This candidate has lived and worked in Alberta for

many years in the petroleum industry. He has

obtained both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in

Economics. After transitioning into politics, this

candidate was sworn in as Canada’s 22nd Prime

Minister.

• Under this candidate’s leadership, his political party

gained 25 seats in the Federal election in 2004. This

candidate formed the first Conservative government

in 13 years. It is reported he is working hard to

secure Canada’s economic recovery. The economy

remains to be his top priority.

Candidate #6:• This candidate is a professional ice hockey player. He learned to skate at the age of three.

By seven, it was clear he was talented beyond his peers. In 2005, the Pittsburg Penguins

drafted him as the first overall pick drafted this candidate. By the end of the 2005-06

season, he had emerged as one of the league’s best young players. In 2009, he led his

team to the Stanley Cup title. He also won Olympic gold in 2010 in Vancouver.

Sidney Crosby

Candidate #7:• This candidate was the son of a Canadian

soldier, and following in his father’s footsteps,

he also joined the army. He earned a

Bachelor’s degree from the Royal Military

College and remains a prominent member of

Canada’s army.

• In 1993, he took command of the UN

Assistance Mission for Rwanda. The mission

was far more intense than the UN had planned

for and the candidate was unsuccessful in his

efforts to have his superiors send more

support. When the war ended, more than

800,000 people had been murdered and 2,

000,000 were made refugees.

• Since this mission, this candidate has become a

champion of human rights. He is an advocate for the

Canadian Armed forces, he speaks at engagements

related to human rights and genocide prevention.

Romeo Dallaire

He continues to hold membership in

the United Nations Security General’s

Advisory Committee on Genocide

Prevention. To date, this candidate

continues to work towards the

elimination of the use of child soldiers.

Candidate #8:• This candidate has an active background in Canadian

politics. Winning re-election to his position three times,

he has served a total of four terms in office. His

accomplishments are substantial and include: uniting

diverse and varied territories, building the Trans-

Canada railroad, and balancing of French and English

political interests in acceptable terms for most citizens.

• Despite a number of successful terms, this candidate

has also imposed unfair and discriminatory action

against his employees. His business tactics have

included questionable measures such as developing

government policies to support the enforced relocation

of residents blocking development of industry.

Sir John A MacDonald

Candidate #9:• A controversial leader, visionary and activist, this First

Nations candidate was born and raised in South Dakota

(USA). The son of an esteemed Sioux warrior named

Returns-Again, this candidate desired to follow in his

father’s footsteps. At an early age, this candidate

demonstrated a lack of skills for success in his pursuit--

nicknamed "Slow" by others in his community.

• Despite a difficult start, this candidate’s commitment to

social justice issues gave him the determination to

succeed, and he eventually achieved his goal—becoming a

skillful military strategist and public speaker. This

candidate has gained a reputation for bravery and has

participated in a number of successful acts of resistance to

oppressive government policies. His past actions have

resulted in several criminal offense charges and one

arrest.

Sitting Bull

Candidate #10:• This candidate is regarded as the spiritual and political

head of one short-lived Rebellion in his country of origin

(Rupert’s Land). An eloquent spokesman and advocate

for aboriginal rights, he is regarded as a key founder of

multiple movements that have protested central political

and economic powers of Rupert’s Land’s oppressive

government.

• This candidate has never carried arms, but has

successfully hindered the work of government and

militant officials. This candidate is suspected to have a

mental illness, at times sharing openly his belief that he

was “chosen” to lead the people of Rupert’s Land. After

managing to elude government officials for some time, he

eventually surrendered, stood trial, and was sentenced

for treason.

Louis Riel

Candidate #11:• This candidate is noted as one of the most

original Canadian painters of the first half of the

twentieth century. A widely-celebrated artist,

this candidate was one of the only major female

artists in either North America or Europe during

the earlier years of her career.

• As an internationally renowned painter and

writer, this candidate is noted for her

interpretation of the Pacific Northwest landscape

and its indigenous culture. She has studied in

the United States, England and France.

Candidate #12:• This candidate is a poet, writer and

entertainer. She is of mixed heritage (the

daughter of a Mohawk chief of the

Six Nations an American woman who was

originally from England). She is best known

for delivering powerful and dramatic

recitations of her poetry. Many of her pieces

have been acknowledged in a variety of

media for her innovative celebration of her

aboriginal heritage through spoken word

performance.

the public. She has since branched out into

E. Pauline Johnson

Candidate #13:• This candidate is an English theoretical physicist and

cosmologist who is widely considered to be one of the

greatest scientists alive today. He is currently the director of

research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology, University

of Cambridge. Diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

(ALS), a motor neuron disease in which the nerves controlling

the muscles become inactive while the sensory nerves

function normally, this candidate is almost completely

paralyzed.

• This candidate has earned twelve honorary degrees. He has

received numerous awards, medals and praises. He is also a

Fellow of The Royal Society and a Member of the US National

Academy of Sciences. This candidate was honored with the

Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009. He continues to work

as a Professor of Mathematics--a position once held by Sir

Isaac Newton. He is considered a living legend for his

contributions to quantum physics.

Steven Hawking

Candidate #14:• This candidate taught in India for 17 years before she

experienced a "call within a call" to devote herself

exclusively to care for the sick and poor. She took her

Final Profession of Vows (to live a life of poverty, chastity

and obedience) as a nun, and dedicated her life to working

in the slums of Calcutta to assist the city’s orphaned and

poverty-ridden.

•  Over several decades of her work, this candidate has

founded numerous charitable activities and helped to

establish orphanages, educational facilities, nursing homes

and clinics for a variety of health needs not only in India,

but internationally. She has received several awards and

much recognition for her charitable work, including Pope

Paul VI’s Decree of Praise, the Jewel of India (the most

noted of awards for Indian civilians), and the Nobel Peace

Prize.

Candidate #15:

• In his 67 years long political career, this candidate has led numerous anti-apartheid

movements. He has been arrested, convicted and imprisoned various times—serving

several years of a life imprisonment sentence.

• This candidate’s most noted achievements include becoming the first black South African to

hold office, receiving the Nobel Peace Prize (1993), and Queen Elizabeth II bestowing upon

him the Bailiff Grand Cross of the Order of St. John and the Order of Merit. To date, this

candidate was the only living person to be awarded with the honorary Canadian citizenship

when he received the Order of Canada.

Candidate #16:• A prolific writer, artist and a militarist, this candidate is known for his exceptional leadership talents and his

lively nature. He has worked as a casual laborer and a watercolor painter. He originally planned to study

art and applied to the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and the School of Architecture. He was rejected both

times. Out of money, he moved into a homeless shelter, where he remained for several years. It was at

this time that this candidate first became interested in politics.

• This candidate volunteered to join the German Army and gained the rank of corporal, earning accolades as

a dispatch-runner. He won several awards for bravery, including the Iron Cross First Class. While serving in

the military, this candidate became a successful leader who rose to prominence from the rank of a mere

soldier due to his exceptional public speaking skills.
