Populated with cool water fish species such as the Longside Dace, Mottled Sculpin, and American Brook Lamprey, Patterson Creek is also home to the endangered Redside Dace. The small, colourful Redside Dace are noted as the only fish in Canada to leap out of the water to feed on low-flying insects. They are generally found in pools and slow-moving areas of small streams and headwaters with a gravel bottom.
