Fathers Day In the week surrounding Sunday 21st June, our playgroup and pre-K students created heart-felt gifts for their Fathers and Grandfathers in our special themed classes. We hope you made your Father feel extra special, and gave him your beautifully decorated ties and medals. We certainly had lots of fun making them. Our Little Art Explorers worked really hard on some pictures and clay models for their Fathers too. Wow, lucky Daddy!

Summer SchoolOnce again, Little Cosmos’ classrooms and corridors were filled with the sound of excited students! We were delighted to see so many new faces coming through our doors. We are sure our existing students made you feel welcome.

Fantastic work Esther!

Using the ewhiteboard is so much fun!

This year Little Cosmos offered a wide range of language classes. Our students could focus on developing one particular skill, such as speaking or writing, in our specialized classes. We also offered Summer Fun and Summer Theme Park programmes, which incorporated a whole range of fun activities for all round development. Over the summer months, we learnt new songs, created beauti-ful arts & crafts and read funny stories. It was wonderful to watch all of our English and PTH students’ progress over the summer – particularly our K1-to-be students, whose confidence grew so quickly!

Our art students came out from their classrooms with ever more colourful and imaginative creations! We thank Miss Joyce, Miss K and Miss Ying for putting so much hard-work into designing and creating such fantastic projects. Our Little Painter students worked hard on detailed pictures of starfish, lavender flowers, papaya fruits and other exciting objects. They also experimented with collages, to add another layer of excitement to their creations.

Our Special Creative Art & Crafts students made a whole range of mouth-watering foods, such as dim sum, fruit waffles and ice cream sundaes. They looked good enough to eat! The Summer Clay Fun programme was also food-themed. All this delicious art made our tummies rumble! Our talented art team showed us how to mould and shape the colourful, soft clay into scrumptious donuts, yummy burgers and tasty macaroons. Our other projects included fairy wings, violins and money boxes!

The Little Cosmos team looks forward to the Magic Cooking classes every summer – we can’t get enough of the delicious smell of baking! Our students love getting their hands stuck in, whisking the eggs, stirring the mixture and carefully decorating their baked goods. In addition to our language, art and cooking classes, we also offered our students the chance to develop their Chinese Calligraphy skills. The characters our students drew so studiously were very neat, well done everybody! Our General Studies course, with Miss Antonia, was also very popular. Students developed their logical thinking skills and confidence speaking in front of others. The purpose of the course was to help prepare students for any upcom-ing school interviews. Of course, we created an exciting curriculum to run alongside this, with our students discussing aspects of our dynamic city and also our traditional culture. Finally, Little Cosmos offered a free course in table manners to all students, to show them how to set the table correctly using traditional Chinese crockery and students can learnt the prepare way in hold-ing chopsticks as well!

Chocolate muns are our favourite! Yummy!

Thank you to everyone who attended our summer classes, and helped us during the busy summer months. We had a wonderful group of Teaching Assis-tants and some familiar faces helping us on Reception too! Over the course of 7 weeks, we all made lots of new friends and learnt many new things too. We hope to see many of our summer programme students returning to us in Sep-tember, when we resume our regular programme.

Examinations In June and August, 13 of our PTH students sat the KPCC spoken language test. We are proud to share the results of this examination - with 7 of our students receiving distinctions and another 3 passing with merit. Congratulations to everybody who participated!

Similarly, some of our English students sat the Trinity spoken language test in July. Little Cosmos is delighted to report another successful set of results, with two students receiving distinctions and the other two receiving merits. Well done to our Trinity students, your hard work paid off! Art Exhibition On 30th August, Little Cosmos proudly presented an artwork exhibition at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. This was the third time we had been involved with this particular exhibition. The creativity of our students and the masterpieces they produce is something we are very proud of. We hope you got chance to admire all the wonderful creations which were displayed down at HKCC!
