Lithographic printing is a process which uses metal plates as a medium to transfer animage from digital artwork onto paper. It requires the creation of a plate for everyimage that is to be printed.

Because there is extra time and cost involvedin setting up these plates during the printingprocess, this option can work out moreexpensive than digital printing for shorter runs.However the quality of finish and range ofchoice lithographic printing offers is unrivalled.

Lithography is mainly used by commercial printers, printingcompanies that will print thousands of copies of the sameitem, in one production run.
