School Returns on January 30 2018 From the Principal Thank You & Farewell! My time at Lithgow Public School has come to a close. I will be moving on to Eglinton Public School for the 2018 school year. I am very excited about this opportunity and the new challenges that will come with it. That being said, it is very difficult to leave such a wonderful school community. I would like to thank everyone for the support that I have received over the past four years. One of our real strengths at Lithgow Public is our staff. Our teachers and support staff are second to none. They are experienced, professional and caring. I have learned a lot from them during my time here and will take those experiences and lessons with me as I move on. From day one, our parents and guardians have demonstrated that education is a joint venture between the school and home. Our students and the school receive an incredible amount of support from home. During my time here I worked very closely with our P&C and am amazed at the selflessness of our volunteers. They truly do a lot of extras to provide improved opportunities for all of our students at school. Lastly, it is our students who I will miss the most. I have said it more than once at assemblies and in newsletters, I truly have one of the best jobs in the world. Our students never cease to amaze me! They are creative, energetic, thoughtful, kind and resilient. I am going to miss the kids but I know they are in a wonderful situation and are very fortunate to be part of such a fantastic school! Again, I want to thank you for the support, the understanding and all the wonderful memories that I have of our school over the past four years! Have a wonderful Christmas, Kind regards Vicki O’Rourke

DON’T FORGET!School Returns on January 30 2018

From the PrincipalThank You & Farewell!

Sporting Results

News from Angus who has just returned from South Australia where he was selected to compete at an international level at the Australian All Schools Championships held 8-10 December 2017.Angus competed in 10 events over three days, bringing home multiple medals and breaking his PB in both discus and shot put.

Angus received a silver medal in the combination multi-event, where he just missed out on the national record. A silver in Shot Put throwing 15.3m and a bronze in Discus with a huge throw of 39.4m. He was then selected to be part of several relay events representing his State in 8 x 100m where they finished first, 8 x 80m finishing third, and he was the number one thrower for Shot Put in another team event. What incredible achievements and memories for Angus. Well done, the Lithgow Public School community is very proud of you!

End of year CelebrationsLast weekend some of our students performed at the Lithgow Carols and Markets at Queen Elizabeth Park. A wonderful community event, well supported by many families singing and enjoying a free sausage sizzle as well as activities and stalls set up in the park.

Our choir sang 'Santa Claus is coming to Town' and they did a wonderful job, capably led by Miss Francis.

It was indeed a ‘Fun Day’ at Lithgow Public School yesterday. The day began with Year 6 offering themselves for auction to raise money for an irrigation pump for the Infants playground. Bids were fast and furious and their goal was achieved within the hour! Students then went onto watch the long awaited Staff vs Year 6 touch football game. Year 6 was coming in as the underdogs, but on the day, they proved too strong, young and fast for the Staff to win 5-3. The Staff made up for that loss later in the day winning the netball challenge. A 2017 school leaders morning tea was held, to thank and celebrate the achievements of our outgoing leadership team and then it was onto the disco or tabloid activities. It was a fun filled day!

Year 6 Slave dayThe Slave Day was extremley successful with funds over $1,700.00 being raised. This money will go towards the Year 6 gift to the school.

Year 6 Graduation

What a huge day our Year 6’s had yesterday. Starting with our Presentation assembly where our Year 6’s performed a moving farewell song with lyrics including ‘Time of your Life’, and then paraded out to a wonderful round of applause. The day concluded with our dinner at Blue Sky Chinese Restaurant where all our students enjoyed a wonderful feast and enjoyed lots of laughter!A reminder if you are wanting some pictures from yesterday, please bring in a USB stick to school so we can download them for you.
