Stainless steel was chosen as the most suitable material for bed intended Multiple conditions had to be evaluated before selecting the most suitable material for bed intended to be used by Syrian refugees in Jordan.Jordans climate was the first thing that taken into account when selecting the right material for the bed.According to Marcus Petrov(2010), Jordans climate is Mediterranean, which results in hot and dry summer and mild and rainy winters, the choice of stainless steel as the primary material particularly suited as wood is prone to damage due to changes in changes in temperature and humidity of the environment whereas stainless steel (Baddoo 2007 ) is corrosion resistant and durable making it a more suitable choice for this climate.Even though Stainless steel is an expensive material when compared to wood, it justify it cost because the bed designed for compromises fundamentally of 8 stainless steel rods, this design is only possible due to stainless steels to high strength and high ductility(Baddoo 2007).This design allows the bed frame to be portable as it is Ready-to-assemble, which allows it to be disassembled and assembled. This design decreases transportation cost. Using wood frame would mean making a more complicated design that would have hampered the portability.. Both wood and steel would have to be imported, as Jordan lacks these resources. Natural sources in Jordan are not suitable for making bed frames. But steel frame also means the local surplus labor force(ref) can be used as the design is simple enough to be manufactured in Jordan.
