    Aarti Vegetable Prints - Sanganer, Rajasthan - Printers and dyers. AartiVegetable prints is a group of block printers in the village of Sangner near

    Jaipur who work use the age old technique of block printing with vegetableand natural colors. They produce home and fashion accessories.

    Action Line Exports - Srinagar, Kashmir - Weavers. Skilled weavers havecome together to work with CRC to keep up their tradition of Jamavar andPashmina weaving, inherited over generations, to produce the mostbeautiful and intricate patterns in woolen scarves and mufflers for the restof the world.

    A. K. Textile - Sanganer, Jaipur, Rajasthan - Block printers. Traditionaland skilled block printers over the years use their inherited skills toproduce beautiful home textile in traditional as well as contemporarydesigns and motifs.

    Allied Craft Croducts - Madhyamgram, West Bengal - Leather goods.ACP is a group of leather workers in the northern part of Calcutta. Leatherwork was earlier done by low cast people only .But in ACP, men andwomen from all casts work together producing leather products usingfinished leather, embossed leather as well as leather with combinationproducts like canvas and other a materials. This craft is acquired by theworkers through in-house training and experience gathered earlier.

    Applique International - Pipli, Orissa - Appliqu work. A typical appliquwork from this area of Orissa was used to decorate the temples in earliertimes and later this skill was transferred to produce modern daydecorative products like garden umbrella, canopy and such like things.

    Through CRC they have been getting regular work

    Artwing - Shantiniketan, West Bengal - Batik leather goods. This is agroup of leather workers who work in Batik technique on leather. Men andwomen work together in a small workshop to produce leather bags,purses and different items.

    Ashirbad Prints - Serampore, West Bengal - Silk printers and dyers. Asmall town about 50 kms from Calcutta, was once famous for its block andscreen printing units. Over the period most have closed down due to badquality and delivery problems but Ashirbad printers a group of skilledprinters have managed to survive as well as flourish working in the Fair

    Trade movement through CRC. They make fashion and home accessories.

    Ashirwad - Manikpur, West Bengal - Decorative items. A group of womenfrom an urban slum started Ashirwad, a project through which theygenerate income for themselves and their community by producingbeautifully made decorative hangings and ornaments including photoframes, boxes using recycled glass bangles.

    Baghira and Co - Murshidabad, West Bengal - Silk weavers. The secondlargest silk producing area in India is situated in the North of West Bengal.

    The weavers group here has silk spinners and weavers who supply all the

    handloom silk base material for other CRC groups for home accessories tofashion accessories.

    Bardhaman Kantha Production Center - Bardhaman, West Bengal -"Kantha" embroidery. The age old technique of running stitch on layeredfabrics, known as "kantha" is done by this group which comprises of morethan 600 rural and small town women .

    Bengal Craft - Serampur, West Bengal - Decorative items. Small townwomen, in district towns, have been organized to create independentgroups who through their skill of tailoring and embroidery create

    attractive decorative hangings and sell them through CRC to the Fair Trade customers.

    Dadoo Industries - Khurja, Uttar Pradesh - Ceramics. Over 300 men andwomen work here in this project producing variety of table ware in stone,ceramic as well as in bone china.

    Darjee - Calcutta, West Bengal - Tailors group. In the North Eastern fringeof Calcutta this group of highly skilled tailors work as per the norms of Fair

    Trade. Over the years this group has managed to develop and establishthemselves in the export market through CRC besides carving their owndomestic market.

    Handlooms & Handicrafts - Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh - Handloomweavers. A group of traditional highly skilled wedding sari weavers, withthe change of time and fashion ,has diverted to weaving a variety of different types of fabrics in silk, cotton, gold and silver yarns for the basefabric for home and fashion accessories.

    Howrah Women Association - Howrah., West Bengal - Stuffed toys. Agroup of widowed, deserted and unmarried women has formed a societyto create an income generation programme by making beautiful stuffedornaments and decorative items for Christmas and other occasions.

    Karigar - Calcutta, West Bengal - Tailors group. A group of tailors to earntheir livelihood has come together to work for a market from which theycan earn their livelihood on a continuous basis.

    Kashida - Calcutta, West Bengal - Embroidery group. A group of youngmen , mostly migrated from the neighboring state, has settled andacquired the technique of machine embroidery of various types. They usesimple manually operated machines for their work.

    Lakshminarayan - West Midnapur, West Bengal - Wood and HornProducts. In the village of Maguria, these skilled artisans use a fast

    growing local wood and recycle the buffalo horns to make beautiful utilityitems for their living. The buffalos shed their horns naturally from time totime and the horn grows back.

    Loke Nath Shilpalay - Dum Dum, Calcutta, West Bengal - Leather group.

    This is a group of young men and women who earn their living by workingon screen printed leather items like wallets, purses, boxes etc. Most of thepeople are second or third generation refugees who came fromBangladesh( then East Pakistan) in 1947 after the partition of India andPakistan.

    Mass Welfare Society - Calcutta, West Bengal - Embroidery Group.Situated in an urban slum, Mass Welfare society trains women from theslums in all types of needle craft and this group creates diversifiedembroidered products using their skill.

    Milangan - Fulia, West Bengal - Handloom weavers. Traditional weaversfrom Tangail, a district in Bangladesh were rehabilitated in Fulia, a districttown in West Bengal. CRC has been able to generate work for them on aregular basis for the last twelve years. Over 70 families of weavers areinvolved in producing fashion accessories for the export market.

    Nari Sikha Udyog - Calcutta, West Bengal - Embroidery Group. Thisgroup of women is situated in the south west suburbs of Calcutta and theywork in hand embroidered products. Through this work they strivetowards self sustenance.

    Prerona - Calcutta, West Bengal - Embroidery Group. A group of womenusing their skill to embroider beautiful products strives to generate anincome for themselves to work towards empowerment and self expression.

    R. P. Handloom - Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh - Handloom weavers.Warangal and Sripuram are the two districts where Ikat weavers aresettled. These weavers traditionally used to weave sari ( women's dress inIndia) but with the advent of modern days they weave exquisite Ikat homeaccessories as well as fashion accessories in silk and cotton.

    Sandeep Weavers - Ludhiana, Punjab - Weavers group. Viscose yarnsfrom pine apple, banana and other organic bodies are used for makingcolorful scarves by the members of this project. Their products are verypopular and is in much demand for their reasonable price and superiorquality.

    Savita Exports - Amritsar, Punjab - Weavers group. Started by an youngentrepreneur, they work with weavers working in wool, viscose, mixedmaterials and other yarns to produce scarves and shawls. The weaversare mostly agro based and they work on the looms when there is noagricultural work.

    master tailor, a group of young men in a village with no formal educationstarted their independent tailoring unit and became self sufficient within acouple of weeks.

    Shree Nathji Textiles - Jaipur, Rajasthan - Embroidery and made-ups.

    The women in the villages of Barmer district in Rajasthan are organized toproduce beautiful hand embroidered fashion accessories. This craft ,traditional to this area is world famous for their intricate embroidery whichoften is embellished with mirrors.

    Sri Bala Handtex - Chennai, Tamilnadu - Handloom weavers. In thecoastal area in Chennai, this group of men and women work on blockbatik designs to produce home accessories in cotton. They also producesarongs and scarves in fine cotton material.

    Srijan - Uluberia, West Bengal - Tailors and embroiders. The entre of the

    "ready to wear" garment trend had put most of the skilled tailors in thisarea jobless. Some of these to earn their livelihood have come together ina group called Srijan ( meaning creation )to work for a market from whichthey can earn their livelihood on a continuous basis.

    Suchi Shilpa - Barasat, West Bengal - Embroidery group. A group of women guided by an able leadership work towards self employment usingtheir fine skill of hand embroidery .

    Tripti Suchi Shilpa - Serampore, West Bengal - Stuffed toys. Small townwomen, in district towns, have been organized to create independentgroups who through their skill of tailoring and embroidery createattractive decorative hangings and sell them through CRC to the Fair

    Trade customers.

    Uma Enterprise - Jaipur, Rajasthan - Silver jewellery. Skilled silver smithsare all situated in and around Jaipur and they produce exquisite as well asexclusive jewelries in traditional and as well as modern designs using puresilver, semiprecious stones and mixed metals too.

    Women's Wing of Slartc - Chapuria, West Bengal - "Kahnta"embroidery. Using traditional "Kantha embroidery " ( running stitches toform motifs), this women's group is an income generation project for anNon Government Organization working in the areas of legal awareness inrural and urban areas of India

    Zanana Dastakari Production Markaz - Srinagar, Kashmir - Crewelembroidery. In the beautiful valley of Kashmir, highly skilled womenbelonging to the cooperative society of Zanana Daskari, practice crewelembroidery on bed covers, cushion covers as well as on compressed feltcreating beautiful patterns.

    Zardozi Original - Katra, West Bengal - Embroidery group. Theembroidery using a hook instead of a needle and mounting the materialon a wooden frame is known as Zardozi embroidery. This technique was

    brought to India by the Mughal emperors. Zardozi Original was formed bya young group of boys and girls , all highly skilled producing exquisiteembroidered items.
