Principal’s Report
New Resources
Staff have been busy organising the purchase of new furnishings and resources to support future focused learning at
Lismore Public School. The creation of interesting, inviting, flexible learning spaces is proven to improve student
outcomes. Along with the additional in class resources we are also developing a sensory playground and establishing a
professional learning space for staff and other agencies to use. We are all very excited about how our spaces will look and
the impact it will have on learning.
Uniform Pool
Stocks in our second hand uniform pool are very low in all sizes. If you have any surplus school shirts, shorts, culottes or
jumpers the school will gratefully accept donations.
Furniture surplus
The school has some extra furniture that has been in storage at the school for some time that we are looking to dispose of.
There are a variety of items including cupboards and tables. If you are in need of some additional storage or tables please
call in to the office and we can organise for you to have a look at what is available.
School Captain Speeches
We are at that time of the year again when students who are running for school captain, deliver their speeches prior to the
voting. I am very much looking forward to hearing our prospective school captains speak about how they feel about our
school and what improvements they would like to see. I wish them all the best of luck as they deliver their speeches and
remind them that although they will not all be elected, leadership takes a number of forms and all of our students are
leaders in their own way.
Have a wonderful week!!

Pre-school Excursion
On Thursday 25th October the LPS Junior Choir and a small group of Kindergarten students visited three local pre-schools
as part of the transition to school program. Miss Stephenson and Mr Hamilton accompanied the excursion to East Lismore
Community preschool, the Learning Cottage and Lismore preschool, where our students performed choir songs, read
books and explored the playgrounds with the younger children. This excursion enabled the preschool students an
opportunity to meet some LPS staff and learn about some of the exciting opportunities ahead of them at ‘big school’. All
students were excellent ambassadors for our school. A magic moment occurred at the first venue when the Junior Choir
started to sing ‘Imagine If’. They knew they were singing beautifully when the audience of about 40 preschool students
and all of the supervising staff fell silent and sat still. As the song continued people came from everywhere in the building
to hear their voices and see who had created this wonderful sound. Well done Junior Choir. Your commitment to learning
your songs and performing together is commendable. Mrs Cole - Teacher

Stage 3 Canberra Excursion
Students from our school will soon be undertaking an education tour of the national capital. Students will
be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s
history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all
young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families
in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $60 per student under the
Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon
completion of the excursion.
K/1C Stories in Stitches
Throughout Term 3 Grace’s mum
Jenni has worked in the K/1C
classroom to create an amazing piece
of artwork with the students in the
class. Each student drew an image to
represent themselves and their family
and Jenni provided a variety of media
for the students to explore to
embellish their individual section. As
the students worked with Jenni they
were able to talk about their school
and home experiences. All members
of the class greatly appreciate the
imagination, creativity and care taken
to create such a unique masterpiece
to be displayed within the school.
